Isla or Emery

I’m expecting my 2nd little girl in [name]March[/name]. Her big sister is [name]Elinor[/name] “[name]Ellie[/name]” [name]Kate[/name] Landenwich. My husband and I are having trouble agreeing on a name. My favorite is [name]Isla[/name], husband thinks it will get mispronounced too often. His favorite is [name]Emery[/name], I think it is too close to [name]Ellie[/name]. Any thoughts on these names or others to consider? Thank you, [name]Krista[/name]

I don’t see how you can mispronounce [name]Isla[/name], but then I’m Scottish

I think [name]Emery[/name] is too close to [name]Ellie[/name] as well, but I love [name]Isla[/name]…

I do think [name]Emery[/name] is way too close to [name]Ellie[/name]. ([name]Both[/name] of which are really adorable, btw). I would personally go with [name]Isla[/name]. If you’re up for it we could suggest some other names for you. Maybe this way you can find a name that [name]BOTH[/name] of you love…

Thank you for your suggestions. I love love [name]Isla[/name], but maybe we could agree on [name]Matilda[/name], or [name]Juliet[/name].

[name]Emery[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] are really common. But i also think that [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] are close but that may be because of the way i pronounce isla. But [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] arnt anywhere near as common as [name]Emery[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name]. And i perfer [name]Isla[/name] to [name]Emery[/name].

I’m glad you liked some of my suggestions.

[name]Isla[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], and [name]Juliet[/name] are all on my short list
I don’t think I’m much help anymore! LOL!

When I first saw the name [name]Isla[/name], I thought it was pronounce Iss-la, like “La [name]Isla[/name] [name]Bonita[/name]” so I can certainly think that would happen now and again. In regular circumstances, everyone will have learned it and say it correctly. I am actually thinking this over - it doesn’t seem very often that someone has met me by reading my name. I say my name is [name]Karen[/name], and then everyone knows how to pronounce my name. If it applies, someone might then ask me how to spell it (usually my last name) but sometimes both - at least some people are sensitive to variations in names and want to ensure they spell my name how it’s spelled, not how they assume. I don’t think mispronunciation is such a big deal - my last name is mispronounced 99% of the time someone is reading it off a list, and I have to think back over my life, what does that mean in numbers? Not really very many.

I think [name]Emery[/name] is too close to [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Elinor[/name], it’s also less feminine but not an extremely masculine name to me… I mean it’s not a tragedy if you want to do that. I like [name]Isla[/name] better independent of any other details, but I think [name]Isla[/name] Landenwich might be hard to say. If you’ve already got an [name]Ellie[/name] Landenwich, I guess that doesn’t bother you too much, so [name]Isla[/name] would be my choice of the two.
