Sorry, don’t mean to be offensive. I work in a male dominated industry myself and as sad as it sounds they tend to take girly girls (I am one myself ) less seriously so just want to give her a chance to be herself without her name getting in the way. I’m clearly over thinking it!
I actually do, I wasn’t being sarcastic- xD
I don’t think you are!
At a guess I would say it’s a combination of awareness of the name due to celebrity exposure (i.e. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_m]Fisher[/name_m] but also a number of celebrities have used it for their children in the last 10 years) plus the meaning of “island” which fits in with the kind of bohemian, nature trend this is so strong at the moment along with the heavy, fluid vowel sounds that are so current (see also: [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_u]Eli[/name_u], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] etc.) together make it the perfect top 10 name for the 2020s.
But like I said it’s my top name too (I’m pregnant with a girl due in Oct) so don’t let it stop you if you love it!
I vote [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Isla[/name_f]! I don’t think they’re too frilly or girly-girl.
I like both names but I think I would opt for [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
