Isla or Orla?

I love both [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f], but I can’t have both in the dream sibling set list, so I need to decide. I’m not sure which goes into my list better, but the combo would be [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], or [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] I also like Orla Beatrice Lily. ([name_f]Orla[/name_f] is a Gaelic/Irish name meaning ‘golden princess’).

Using my top 3 for each gender, where would [name_f]Isla[/name_f]/[name_f]Orla[/name_f] fit in best?

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]/[name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_u]Reece[/name_u], [name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] ________, & [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]

OR

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f],[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]/[name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_u]Reece[/name_u], [name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] ________, & [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]?

I’m a little split. Like both names. Sibset wise, I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sounds better with your other favorite girl names, and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] better with your favorite boy names (since they all are kind of Irish-y).

If it were just on an individual basis, I slightly prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f].

I felt that way too - but, I did just creep through some British birth announcements and found a little [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - so my top girl’s contender could work with it. I’m just scared it’s too close to [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], so then I’d have to find another solid name to break the cutesiness up. I think I prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f] slightly too though, I feel like my brain wants [name_f]Isla[/name_f] to be eyez-lah

I really like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]. I agree with @pacifica, [name_f]Isla[/name_f] goes well we your girls list, and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] with your boys list. I prefer the combo [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is gorgeous though.

With your list, I would go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

Hmm, I’m thinking [name_f]Orla[/name_f] seems nicer (the whole silent ‘s’ thing), but I don’t know what girls names to remove from my list to add it in. I know in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f] is fairly popular and used with the cutesier names.

Oh, [name_f]Orla[/name_f] is just lovely - slightly unusual, but simple to spell and easy to pronounce, with a beautiful sound.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is very pretty too, and given that it’s becoming more popular (and the visibility via [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_m]Fisher[/name_m]) I don’t think the silent s would cause any problems, but I do get the eyez-la thing.

In terms of the sib-sets, I think that [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] sound good together, but [name_f]Isla[/name_f] matches slightly more. If you prefer [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] for the third girl, [name_f]Isla[/name_f] fits in better than [name_f]Orla[/name_f], I think. I’m with @pacifica too - your boys names match [name_f]Orla[/name_f] beautifully.

I think I’m taking out [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], I do love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] with it, but I think my new combo switch up will suit [name_f]Orla[/name_f] a bit better

THE [name_m]NEW[/name_m] LIST drumroll:

[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

[name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] ____
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (switching up the [name_m]Louis[/name_m] combo)
[name_u]Jamie[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_u]Reece[/name_u]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] ([name_m]Louis[/name_m] is pn [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-ee )
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] ______

I think I prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Mia[/name_f] together for girls, and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] still gets to be there via [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] in the [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] combo

[name_m]Both[/name_m] are really gorgeous. I’ve never heard [name_f]Orla[/name_f] before, but I think I prefer it. The golden princess meaning is awesome.

I give a thumbs up to the new list. Loving [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] & [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] would be too bad though.

I wasn’t so sure on the OR sound being repeated (I’m picky with the stronger sounds). I’m happy with the name flip - I switched [name_f]Mia[/name_f] for [name_f]Millie[/name_f] because [name_f]Millie[/name_f] just feels more me, and my style is basically British, [name_f]Millie[/name_f] seems more sophisticated [name_u]Brit[/name_u] than [name_f]Mia[/name_f] does (the other names on my girl’s list seem pretty upscale [name_f]England[/name_f] to me). I’ve always liked [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but felt it was lacking something, now I know what it was missing!

I’m possibly a little biased, lol, I seem to love the “or” sound in names, e.g. - [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], [name_f]Astoria[/name_f], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]

Ooh, hard choice… I love them both, but I think I prefer [name_f]Orla[/name_f] just a bit more. It’s interesting it’s one or the other for you, since to me they’re so different.

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a fresh-faced, spunky, playful little girl who’s very social and wants to play with everyone. She loves animals and nature and comes home with pockets full of leaves, rocks, and flower petals and a butterfly in her net. I like the connection to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m], one of the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s great-granddaughters. It also seems like a very Scottish and nature-y name to me, so I think of the cliffs and tree crashing waves

[name_f]Orla[/name_f] is a mysterious, enchanting young woman, no one ever knows what she’s really thinking. She’s quick-minded and analytical, always ready to defend herself and those she loves but with a heart of gold. I could imagine a girl in a story who can do magic and is learning to use her powers, but concealing it from everyone else, being named [name_f]Orla[/name_f]. I also love the connection to the singer [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] (a former member of Celtic Woman, if you know that group), she has such an angelic voice.

[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is nice but [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is just nearly perfect. [name_m]Both[/name_m] make me think of spring, a forest bursting into full bloom, the cornucopia of bright colours.

I like [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would actually be lovely together, but obviously too matchy- do you like [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] (with [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and in general)?

I really like [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], but I felt like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] had two strong OR sounds that didn’t fit well.

I love your [name_f]Orla[/name_f] combos! However [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] sound a bit similar to me  For that reason I would go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

Thank you! I’ve switched up my list because I like [name_f]Orla[/name_f] more than [name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

Definitely [name_f]Isla[/name_f]!!

Although I love both, I’m creeping slightly more towards [name_f]Orla[/name_f] it’s more unusual than [name_f]Isla[/name_f] without being weird! It’s lovely

Oh you spoil me. [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is the best combo [name_u]EVER[/name_u]! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is OK but a little boring to be a first name.

I love [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as a combo. It’s such a pretty name, but without being super-frilly.
