Isla vs Ivy + polls

Kind of a follow up to Luna vs Lucy. Wondering how others see the vibes of these two names. They both sound similar in a way, Eye-la and Eye-vee. Both have a nature connection - island and ivy. What do you think? Comments appreciated!

I have a bad association with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], so I prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but not a big fan of Isla’s spelling. I would spell it [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. But obviously that’s just me, so you do you!

Totally get the thing about spelling/pronouncing [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I thought it was Is-la for a long time and it probably has more than one pronunciation. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] doesn’t seem quite right for me but I get where you’re coming from. I actually know someone named [name_f]Nyla[/name_f] which is pretty much [name_f]Isla[/name_f] with an N at the beginning.

Yeah, I knew someone named Ayla say before I knew about the name Isla, so Ayla just feels right to me.

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is very popular where I live and it’s started to feel a bit generic to me (kind of like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or Ava) so it’s hard to pin down any specific vibe. Whereas [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] definitely seems to have a certain “feel” to it? Kind of a bookish, nature-y vintage-esque sort of name.

Interesting! [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is about twice as popular by the numbers where I live. I’ve never met an [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

Isla has always felt rather cold to me, like a strong wind blowing on a crisp winter day somewhere on the shores of a Scottish island.
It’s light blonde hair and blue eyes to me.
Sweet but serious, creative but always with a plan.

Ivy feels a lot warmer to me, more like a small cottage in England, covered in vines and roses. A summer day, patchwork blankets, art supplies covering the floor, small hands with dirt under the nails.

Edited to say that I never met an Isla nor an Ivy!
