So I know [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is super popular/trendy on naming websites/forums, and I know it is very popular in the UK, but I feel like it will be pretty unheard of in my area (NC, US) for a while. If my son was a girl his name was going to be [name_f]Ella[/name_f], then it shot up to be an extremely popular name and while I still think it’s lovely, I’m turned off by that level of popularity. [name_m]Will[/name_m] I feel the same about [name_f]Isla[/name_f] in a couple years? I know it is becoming more common and that is ok with me (maybe it will help with pronunciation/spelling issues) I’d just like to avoid something that will be in the top 20 in the US. I know if you’re a person who spends time looking at these forums you see it all the time, but how much do you hear it in reality?
By the way, my son’s name is [name_m]Asher[/name_m] which I rarely heard at the time, and though it has become a trendy name I still love it and it suits him perfectly. So maybe it would be the same with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Right now we’re thinking of this baby as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. Our last name is long and sort of clunky, and we love how soft and easy [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sounds with it. Thoughts?? Thanks!
