Need quick help. [name]Isla[/name]'s brother was born 3 days ago and we really thought we were having a girl the whole time. So, we focused on girl names. But, we had a helathy and adorable baby boy who now needs a name stat!!
My husband’s name is [name]Robert[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] (last name), III. We have decided we don’t want to name our son the IV, but would like to use the first name [name]Robert[/name]. So, we need to find a middle name that will probably be the name we call our boy! The contenders we have come up with are:
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Stellan[/name]
[name]Augustus[/name]
[name]Dobbin[/name] (as a nn for [name]Robert[/name] if we decide to go by his first name)
Berries, can you help us narrow it down? We have to pick this one out quick!!
I think [name]Robert[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] would be a such a handsome choice! And if you do call him by his middle name, [name]Dashiell[/name] or [name]Dash[/name] is perfect with [name]Isla[/name]. [name]Declan[/name] is great as well. I’d say that [name]Robert[/name] [name]Declan[/name] is my second choice. [name]Henry[/name] seems to common with [name]Isla[/name] and I’m not a fan of [name]Stellan[/name]. [name]Augustus[/name] seems a bit grand with simple and chic [name]Isla[/name], though [name]August[/name] would be a lovely choice. [name]Robert[/name] [name]August[/name] is very sweet!
It’s funny that you’re considering [name]Dobbin[/name]. My sister’s name is [name]Robin[/name] and when she was a baby she had trouble saying her Rs so she called herself [name]Dobbin[/name], and the nickname Dobby stemmed from that. We call her Dobby and [name]Dobbin[/name] at home. I think it’s a sweet nickname if you go with calling him [name]Robert[/name].
With [name]Isla[/name], I think that [name]Declan[/name] fits best. The other names are also great, but not my favorites with [name]Isla[/name] - [name]Henry[/name] is too classic in comparison, [name]Dashiell[/name] and [name]Stellan[/name] are a bit too unusual, and [name]Augustus[/name] is much longer and more old fashioned (“clunky but cool”, as Nameberry puts it). [name]Robert[/name] [name]Declan[/name] gets my vote!
I loveeee [name]Declan[/name] but I also think [name]Isla[/name] and “[name]Dash[/name]” sound great together. With that said, [name]Robert[/name] [name]Declan[/name] does sound better than [name]Robert[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] in my opinion!
I like [name]Henry[/name], [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Dashiell[/name]. I prefer [name]August[/name] to [name]Augustus[/name]. [name]Stellan[/name] leaves me a bit cold, but I am sure I would get used to it.
I like [name]Declan[/name] or [name]Augustus[/name] (nn Auggie)
My cousins little girl is [name]Isla[/name] and her son is [name]Ethan[/name]. Always thought that sounded nice together.
So many of these names are handsome.
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Henry[/name] - love
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Declan[/name] - love, Dec is a fun nn.
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] - maybe this is my fave, love [name]Dash[/name].
[name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Robert[/name] [name]Stellan[/name]. Sounds a bit awkward to me.
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Augustus[/name] - don’t like so much, love [name]Robert[/name] [name]August[/name]!
