I like names with that EYE sounds but I hadn’t considered Eileen/Aileen as they feel pretty dated but I found this spelling variant that seems to give it an update. I looked it up and it’s definitely used, a character on Britannia (never seen it personally), an author by the name of Islene Runningwolf, etc.
I would pronounce it eyez-leen or something else with a z sound. I don’t mind the [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] pronunciation but it feels dated to me no matter how its spelled.
Oh, that’s a much better way of spelling [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]! Very pretty. People would definitely get it wrong at times but perhaps with the popularity of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] that will be less of an issue…
I think you might be better off with the original spellings. A name always sounds dated if it hasn’t been used for quite a while, but as soon as you have a little girl called [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] or [name_f]Aileen[/name_f], it will give it a whole new lease of life. [name_u]Promise[/name_u]! You don’t want your little girl in a position where she has to keep correcting people. It will become tedious and exhausting.
[name_f]My[/name_f] intuition was to pronounce it iz-leen at first, but I agree that this spelling is aesthetically pleasing! I do think she would have to correct most people at first on the pronunciation.
