I really want my daughter to have a name that ends in O, but I am seriously struggling to find a name that I REALLY love. I have always loved [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but I would much prefer it if the name ended in an O - just for a modern twist, perhaps… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that Islo is a usable name and do you think that a female would be able to carry it off well or does it sound masculine???
SO MANY QUESTIONS! Haha. I also like [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] - but I definitely prefer Islo. I also like Lylo (pronounced lie-lo) and [name_f]Lilo[/name_f] (lee-lo). I am open to suggestions, but I dislike the names [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] (or any of its variations).
I don’t really like Islo, it sounds too made-up for me. I prefer [name_f]Lilo[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] from your other options.
Some suggestions:
[name_f]Io[/name_f]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]/[name_u]Bo[/name_u] (frequently used for girls where I am)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]/[name_u]Juneau[/name_u]
[name_f]Marlo[/name_f]/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_u]Echo[/name_u] (I actually know one who pulls it off well)
[name_u]Caro[/name_u] (as a nn for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f])
[name_u]Cato[/name_u]
[name_f]Coco[/name_f]
[name_f]Flo[/name_f] (as a nn for [name_f]Flora[/name_f]/[name_f]Florence[/name_f])
[name_f]Kahlo[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
I already concider [name_f]Isla[/name_f] a modern name so it feels less like a “modern twist” and more like a [name_u]Brayden[/name_u]/[name_m]Zayden[/name_m]/[name_u]Ayden[/name_u] addition that takes away from the original and will ultimately be confused with the much prettier original. Not a fan.
Is it usable/too masculine? [name_m]Kylo[/name_m] is trending. The -o- ending names ([name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], etc) are also on trend and -o- is a typical masculine ending, so I would assume Islo was a boy but it’s an easily correctable assumption.
Of your options, I think [name_f]Lilo[/name_f] sounds the least forced.
