Have only even known [name_u]Esme[/name_u] till recently - but I think [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] is fresher and makes you (or me anyway) say the name in a more appealing way.

Both would be fine, but my vote goes to [name_u]Esme[/name_u].

I prefer [name_u]Esme[/name_u] because [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] reminds me too much of [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] from the Titanic…maybe that’s just me.

I love [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] and we had it on our list, but the titanic reference and (dismay) made us take it off. So I would probably go [name_u]Esme[/name_u] even though I prefer [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]!

Also another one we have listed is Ismary, a variation of Ismerie/Esmerie (which could be a full and nickname of Esme) if you search britishbabynames.com [name_f]Ismerie[/name_f] you can find the history of the name! We wanted Ismary nickname [name_f]Immy[/name_f], but baby girl had other plans for her name

I prefer [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]! I love the nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] but I don’t like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] et al. I think [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] is a touch spicier than [name_u]Esme[/name_u] and I like that!

I’d pronounce them differently, too. [name_u]Esme[/name_u] as ehzz-may (eh as in Evan) and ihzz-may (ih as in Isabelle).
