Isn't it funny

Isn’t it funny how when you meet a person in real life with a name it can totally change the name for you? This last week was a great week for names. I work in health care and far too often I see names like [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_m]Zayden[/name_m], [name_f]Kylea[/name_f], Kylynn, [name_u]Bryley[/name_u], Kinzleigh, etc. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the classics can get old, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], etc. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, I love the classics, it’s just nice to hear different/new names. I met the following people last week…

[name_f]Novella[/name_f] - she was in her 70’s and as sweet as could be. This name lends itself to many lovely nicknames like [name_f]Nova[/name_f], Novie and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I love it.

[name_m]Ned[/name_m] - a teen-aged boy named [name_m]Ned[/name_m] and no, it wasn’t short for anything. He wore it quite well.

Sandylee - another lady in her 70’s, also sweet. I was tempted to ask if she was named after two people creating smoosh name but I did not.

[name_u]Story[/name_u] - I’ve seen this name on nameberry off and on but never met a real person with this name. This little girl was adorable and made the name seem more wearable.

[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] - a lovely man in his 80’s. When I asked him about his name he told me his mother had a neighbor named [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and she just loved the name. The gentleman told me that he too loves his name. <3

Octavia - never thought I’d meet one, and she was spunky!

Eula - this lady was sweet, I didn’t have a chance to ask her about her name.

Della - another older lady, also a sweetheart. I love Della as a nickname for the Adelaide/Adelyn/Adeline names.

Ellen & Mara - sisters who must have been 7 and 8 or 8 and 9, I’m not real sure. They were just bouncing off the walls but they were adorable! It was really nice to hear their names!

Indira - seriously I couldn’t think of anything other than her name while we were talking! She had a lovely accent but I don’t know where she was from. This name has always been a guilty pleasure of mine but after meeting an Indira in real life it seems more wearable.

OK that’s the list - sorry if I’ve bored you. I just couldn’t believe all the lovely names this week and I had to tell someone!!!

I have a huge crush on [name_m]Ned[/name_m] (just [name_m]Ned[/name_m]). I envision a brother trio named [name_m]Hal[/name_m], [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]Ned[/name_m] and I’m not even a big fan of “nicknames as first names”. What’s happening to me? [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_f]Eula[/name_f] would be lovely for siblings and I like the stately [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] too. Thanks for sharing!

This week, I met a lovely lady named [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] (probably in her forties or fifties) and I must say I fell in love with her and her name. I never met anyone with that name before and I always thought it was old-timey, but she definitely changed my impression of the name.

I never thought twice about the name [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] before I met an older woman who came into my work with the name [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]. After that, I found it adorable. It jumped up pretty high on my list!

I met someone with the name [name_f]Midori[/name_f] yesterday, she had a twin named [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names are gorgeous and I’ve never heard of [name_f]Midori[/name_f] before, it’s a Japanese name that means green! I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it!

I love all of these stories!

I’m really loving [name_f]Novella[/name_f], [name_u]Story[/name_u], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], & [name_f]Della[/name_f]!

I used to not care for the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] much until I met a couple. One was a young fashionista with really hip taste in clothing and the other was a spunky teen – now I can’t help but think of it as a cool chick’s name! [name_m]Both[/name_m] of those pronounced it with the ‘line’ ending instead of of ‘lynne’.
