SO is Italian and I have tried every which way to fall in love with some Italian boys names; but I just haven’t really felt it, perhaps because they feel super culturally tied to me? I don’t know… So far I don’t mind [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], [name_m]Diego[/name_m], [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] and [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] (which is unusable.) I checked out some of the names charting in Switzerland to balance out our [name_m]German[/name_m]/Italian backgrounds, from that list I found [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]. Most of the boys names are just too long and fussy for me, which ironically is what I love for a girl ([name_f]Angelina[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_f]Viviana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] etc.) So what are some great names you’ve heard on some Italian boys?! Usually I like super traditional boys names or more surname-y or trendy names for boys e.g [name_m]Rowe[/name_m], [name_m]Heath[/name_m], [name_u]Logan[/name_u] etc.
Some Italian names:
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]
[name_m]Marco[/name_m]
Lanzo
[name_m]Lando[/name_m]
[name_m]Emilio[/name_m]
[name_u]Nico[/name_u]
[name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]
[name_m]Cristiano[/name_m]
[name_m]Ricci[/name_m]
[name_m]Renzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
Like above mentioned: [name_m]Dante[/name_m], [name_m]Marco[/name_m], [name_m]Lando[/name_m], [name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]/[name_m]Enzo[/name_m] + your mentioned ones are great.
Others:
[name_u]Elia[/name_u]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m]
[name_m]Carlo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leandro[/name_m] (could NN ‘[name_m]Leo[/name_m]’)
My favourite 4 would be: [name_m]Dante[/name_m], [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] ([name_m]Enzo[/name_m]) & [name_m]Leandro[/name_m] ([name_m]Leo[/name_m]) & [name_u]Luca[/name_u] (Popular in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and Germany!). The shorter NN’s are definitely valid on their own as well!
[name_m]Franco[/name_m]
We almost used it and it’s familiar but not commonly used
I think Italian names are beautiful and imo a lot of them work well outside of [name_f]Italy[/name_f], especially if one of the parents actually comes from [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. Does your husband have any nice Italian names in his family that you could play with?
Some Italian boy names I love:
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Rocco[/name_m]
[name_m]Eduardo[/name_m]
[name_m]Alonzo[/name_m]
Niccolo
[name_m]Alessio[/name_m]
[name_m]Giacomo[/name_m]
[name_m]Julio[/name_m], [name_m]Giulio[/name_m]
[name_m]Angelo[/name_m]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_m]Emilio[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucio[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Renzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]
[name_u]Leone[/name_u]
[name_m]Sandro[/name_m]
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Ludovico[/name_m], [name_m]Ludo[/name_m]
[name_m]Massimo[/name_m]
I love [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]. It’s probably my favorite Italian boy name. I also like [name_m]Marco[/name_m], [name_m]Emilio[/name_m], and [name_m]Dante[/name_m] as PPs have mentioned. [name_m]Dante[/name_m] is probably one that is the most versatile for me. The others definitely sound very Italian.
I suggest [name_m]Ezio[/name_m] (ehtsio)
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Luca[/name_u] from your list…
I am having the same problem right now, except I’m having a baby boy next week! My girls have Italian names, and I love them with our Italian surname. While I like many Italian boy names, particularly [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], [name_m]Tommaso[/name_m], [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m], and [name_m]Marco[/name_m], none of them feel like the name of my son. I also really prefer [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Marc[/name_m] to the Italian versions. My husband is actually from [name_f]Italy[/name_f], but doesn’t seem to mind using an English name, so that’s what we are going to do. Still haven’t decided though!
