Well number 4 is officially a boy! I’m really really struggling loving our names this go around. I’m looking for suggestions of names that preferably are orthodox saints or diminutives of, have a nature connection and a nice meaning. I know it really narrows it down, here is our current list:
He likes:
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] (probably my fave from his picks)
I like but am not in love:
Iler
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_u]Florian[/name_u]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m]
[name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_u]Basil[/name_u]
I was so prepared with a girl name this time I’m a little sad I don’t love any boy names right now.
Benedict (saint, means 'blessed")
[name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (saint, means “fiery”)
[name_u]Augustine[/name_u] (saint, means “magnificent”)
[name_m]Brendan[/name_m] (saint, means “prince”)
[name_m]Clement[/name_m] (saint, means “merciful”)
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] (saint, means “fortunate”)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] (saint, means “lion”)
[name_m]Maximus[/name_m] (saint, means “greatest”)
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] (saint, means “God has blessed”)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (saint, means “gift of God”, nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u])
What are your other kids’ names, if you don’t mind me asking? It would help create better suggestions, I think.
What do you think about [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Edward[/name_m]?
[name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] means gift from God
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] means happy
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is my favorite from his list
You said you like but don’t love your list so I won’t pick any from it, what girls names got you most excited? Maybe we can use them to find a boys name that will have that same spark
I’m sorry you haven’t had the chance to use your girl name. I do think [name_m]Marius[/name_m] would suit your family. It meets all your preferences although that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll both like the name and I don’t know if you have any hopes for a fifth child. But it’s intuitive and I think it feels a little more familiar than [name_u]Florian[/name_u]. In the last 18 years, it has averaged 64 births per year. In 2019, there were 58 births.
Have you considered [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] as a reference to [name_m]Saint[/name_m] Sophrony? Perhaps [name_m]Cyril[/name_m], [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] or [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]?
Edit: I’m also adding Jacoby “Jack”, Micah, Julius, Nils or Niels for Nilus, Tycho for Tychicus and Bastian for Sebastian.
That’s a beautiful name, I hope you can find a boy’s name just as special to get excited about. I’ll add [name_m]Manuel[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u]/Augustus, [name_u]Julian[/name_u]. Maybe [name_u]Ira[/name_u] or [name_u]Eli[/name_u]?
Honestly those are my top two. Maybe they will end up as first and middles. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband doesn’t love [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] and I’m ok with [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] mostly because the nickname [name_m]Solly[/name_m] is so dang cute.
I love [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] for you! [name_m]Solly[/name_m] and [name_u]Sol[/name_u] are both wonderful [name_m]Samson[/name_m] “[name_u]Sonny[/name_u]” feels similar to me, but I know you have a -son name already…
It’s not a saint, but I have to suggest [name_m]Elwood[/name_m] for you. It’s similar in sound to [name_m]Edward[/name_m] but has the easygoing, outdoorsy, jazzy feel of your other boys’ names and a wonderful nature-related meaning.
Maybe also [name_u]Corin[/name_u] or [name_m]Corentin[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], [name_m]Alban[/name_m], [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m], Shepherd, [name_m]Marius[/name_m] (seconded!), [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] or [name_m]Orlando[/name_m].
