I’m pregnant with my second, due at the end of [name_u]January[/name_u], and just found out it’s a girl! Yay! Except that I totally thought I was having a boy and even had a name picked ([name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]). I already have a wonderful, perfect little boy named [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
I feel like I’ve seen every name in the English language and nearly hate them all. If I know someone with that name or have any connection to it, I won’t like it. I don’t like too mainstream of names, either. I need some creative suggestions and figured this forum was the perfect place to ask!
So far, I kinda like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is adorable, but I don’t know if I’d use it. A friend’s baby is named Miette and I love the simplicity and beauty of it. [name_u]Haven[/name_u] was a contender for a while, but it feels a little trashy to me now, though I’m not sure why.
I want something feminine but strong, and not weird but definitely uncommon or less common.
Miele is similar to Miette. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] also comes to mind. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like virtue names? Those seem to fit strong not weird category.
Have you thought of [name_f]Sebastiana[/name_f]? To me it sounds like “Sebaschiana” if that makes sense. I love [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and I actually think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] sounds great with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. And since your friend already has a baby named Miette, Miele wouldn’t be a good way to go. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like your girl names to be feminine or do you just like uncommon names in general? [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is from To Kill A Mockingbird; do you have a thing for names that have connotations to your favorite books or movies?
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a perfect fit with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]!
some others you could consider
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
I think I liked the “-ette” portion of Miette the best, but I can’t think of another short similar name. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is nice.
[name_f]Virtue[/name_f] names are ok so far… [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is cute, but I’m not sure I’d use it. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] is pretty but again, I wouldn’t use it.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is perfect with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. Other ideas: What about [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? [name_f]Marin[/name_f]? [name_f]Greta[/name_f]? [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]? [name_u]Sabel[/name_u]? [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]? [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]? Wide variety there
Here’s what comes to mind for a sister for [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]:
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (I think this is perfect without being too matchy!)
[name_f]Moira[/name_f] (similar simplicity to Miette?)
[name_f]Clea[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Marin[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
Am I way off base? I could potentially have more suggestions… I’m trying to guess your style
I have a French gggggg-grandmother named Sebastienne. I also like [name_u]Alix[/name_u] (an old, feminine name, probably [name_m]Norman[/name_m]), [name_f]Wren[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]Reed[/name_u].
[name_u]Janvier[/name_u] is French for [name_u]January[/name_u]…I like the sound of it as a name.
Also, [name_f]Ivetta[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_f]Xia[/name_f], [name_f]Sari[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], Lucrece, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f], [name_u]Nicola[/name_u], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], & [name_f]Portia[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] have a sweet, almost country, twang to them that scream maple wood & fairy tale to me.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] (pronounced either the English way, or ahn-ree-ette, the French way), [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] (prn how it looks, or more subtly French, loo-SYEN-uh), [name_f]Avril[/name_f], [name_u]March[/name_u], [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Morganna[/name_f], [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] (prefer this one with the soft E sound myself), [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]! I also think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] sounds good with it, but I’m kind of biased because its one of my top names. I don’t like [name_u]Haven[/name_u] so I’m glad you dropped that. As for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], the closest girl name I can think of is Serephina/Serefina or Serephine/Serefine. If you like Miette for the -ette ending (I agree, the -ette makes names sound so dainty and girly) how about (I’ll bold my favorites): [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Alouette[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudette[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
or [name_f]Odette[/name_f]?
[name_f]May[/name_f] I also suggest [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f], [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Olivine[/name_f]. Congrats and good luck.
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] came to mind right away…
Has the -ette and I think it’s adorable with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
Other ideas:
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
I also thought of [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]…other shorter -ette names (favorites are bolded): [name_f]Ellette[/name_f], [name_f]Minette[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Vinette[/name_f], [name_f]Toinette[/name_f], Liette or [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], [name_f]Mariette[/name_f], [name_f]Villette[/name_f], [name_f]Lunette[/name_f], [name_f]Nanette[/name_f], Miriette, [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f], [name_f]Babette[/name_f], [name_f]Musette[/name_f], [name_f]Evette[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] she sounds so retro and sweet with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]. [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] have such as great sound. I like [name_u]Winter[/name_u] she sounds very graceful and elegant. I also like the fact that the baby is going to be born in the season of [name_u]Winter[/name_u], I dislike strong seasonal names if the child is born out of the season similarly with strong month names and day names. But does [name_u]Winter[/name_u] go with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] I’m unsure on this one!! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a cute name as well! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] sounds very strong and works with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] in a sense that they both classics. So out of the three my favourite is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], I just think she sounds so cute, I also like the [name_f]Clemency[/name_f] nickname and I think [name_f]Callie[/name_f] could work as well.
The names that came to mind when I read your op were [name_f]Colette[/name_f], corinne, [name_f]Camila[/name_f], and coraline. I think [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Camila[/name_f] make a really lovely sounding pair, as well as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. Good luck!
I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] but here are a few other options:
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liesel[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nola[/name_f] or [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (care-oh-lee-nuh)
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] -if you want another literary name
