It's a GIRL! I need help naming #4...

[name]Hi[/name] there,

I just found out our fourth and final baby will be a girl. I had a feeling since I was having a very difficult time coming up with a list.

Thus far I have [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Bennett[/name] [name]Christian[/name], and [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. At least one part of each name is a family name and I intend to do the same with this little one. I have a long list and would love for you to tell me what you think will work with my other kids as well as what you’d like to see REMOVED. Possible middle names include [name]Lillian[/name] (preferred), [name]Hope[/name], [name]Michele[/name].

THANKS IN ADVANCE. - [name]Karen[/name]

Here’s what we have so far:

[name]Mirabel[/name]/le
Vivan
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Michele[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name]

[name]Don[/name]'t worry about hurting my feelings I have thick skin and would rather hear all the bad stuff now than after I’ve named her!

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Karen[/name], and congrats on baby four!

[name]Patrick[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], and [name]Johanna[/name] are great. With middle names like [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Christian[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name], I definitely think [name]Lillian[/name] (or [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lilia[/name], or [name]Lilias[/name]) is your best bet in that spot. I would use a semi-classic first name with a modern, playful feel - nothing unisex, and likely nothing surname-inspired. I also wouldn’t personally use another double-letter name since you’ve got two of four with [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name]; I’m sort of a nit-picky type of person, though. Ha! So, who is leaving first? [name]Romilly[/name] - she’s surname-inspired (slightly, slightly unisex) like [name]Bennett[/name] and she’s got a double letter. No.

I suppose I’d look for a three-syllable name for this little girl. You’ve used two two-syllable names for your boys ([name]Patrick[/name] and [name]Bennett[/name]) and a three-syllable name for your only girl ([name]Johanna[/name]), so it seems fitting, right? And, are nicknames important to you? Clearly, [name]Patrick[/name] can be shortened to [name]Pat[/name], [name]Patty[/name], [name]Rick[/name], and [name]Ricky[/name], [name]Bennett[/name] can be shortened to [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Benny[/name], and [name]Johanna[/name] can be shortened to [name]Jo[/name], [name]Joey[/name], and [name]Hanna[/name]. I don’t know if you like nicknames, but it might be good to find a name that naturally offers one, like [name]Pat[/name], [name]Ben[/name], and [name]Jo[/name].

So, that leaves us with:

[name]Mirabel[/name] - Maybe a little too frilly next to sister [name]Johanna[/name], but cute. [name]Annabel[/name], maybe?
[name]Vivian[/name] - I like this; it’s straightforward but still elegant and feminine. [name]Viv[/name] is cute, too!
[name]Rosalie[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name, but rather feminine next to sweet [name]Johanna[/name]. A possibility, though.
[name]Genevieve[/name] - Again, so very pretty, but so very frilly. [name]Johanna[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] have the “J” sound.
[name]Lucia[/name] - This is a nice fit, stylistically, but it isn’t my favorite.

I like [name]Vivian[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name] best, I’d say. [name]Vivian[/name] is probably my favorite with [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], and [name]Johanna[/name], but [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is goofy, as is [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lilias[/name]. [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Hope[/name], maybe? Yea, I guess.

You didn’t say you were open to suggestions, but I’ll throw a few out there just in case - [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Lilias[/name], [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Magdalen[/name] [name]Lilias[/name], [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Lillian[/name], or [name]Violet[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]?

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Patrick[/name], [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] sound so regal

As far as their little sister’s name goes, I actually think all the names on your list are wonderful and there aren’t any I don’t think would work, I do have favourites though!

[name]Mirabel[/name]/le - very high on my own list, I [name]ADORE[/name] this name! It’s most definitely my favourite on your list although it feels less serious than your other childrens names so not sure it’s the perfect match

[name]Rosalie[/name] - I adore most [name]Rose[/name] names, [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosalia[/name], [name]Rosanna[/name], [name]Rosalyn[/name] etc. [name]Rosalie[/name] works really well with your other names as would [name]Rosalind[/name]

[name]Genevieve[/name] - In an ideal world, I don’t know if I like that [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] start with the same sound but at least they would have unique initials, and the names in general have very different sounds and differen endings. I love [name]Genevieve[/name], it sounds as regal as your other names and has a lot of nickname options from [name]Gen[/name], to [name]Gia[/name], to [name]Neve[/name] or [name]Evie[/name], maybe even [name]Vivi[/name]?

[name]Lucia[/name] - this is a lovely pretty name and [name]Johanna[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] seem like perfect sisters to me, although perhaps [name]Lucia[/name] is a little more exotic? I like the nn’s [name]Lucy[/name] and Sia!

[name]Romilly[/name] - love this! It’d be on my list now if my partner didn’t veto it! This has the same serious but chic feel of your other names to me, and is still very underused. This is actually my first choice for you as I think it’s the best match with your other names and is a little unusual

So my top 3 for you would be [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Mirabel[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name], but I also love [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name].

[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is too much I think, [name]Romilly[/name] [name]Michele[/name] or [name]Romilly[/name] [name]Hope[/name] would be great though. [name]Mirabel[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is lovely. The L’s do roll into each other a little but it doesn’t bother me. If it bothers you though then I’d use [name]Mirabel[/name] [name]Hope[/name]. And [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] is adorable but if you think it’s too long then [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Lily[/name] is great too

Have you considered Lillan as a first name at all? I think it would work really well with your other childrens names!

Best of luck and congrats

WOW Thank you both so much for taking the time to give such thoughtful advice! VERY helpful.

Unfortunately we cannot use [name]Lillian[/name] in the fn spot because of multiple friends having already used it. Also, [name]Lily[/name] is our very old cat’s name. I love the suggestion of [name]Cecily[/name] and considered it while pregnant with [name]Johanna[/name], but struggled with how it could be shortened. ? Not sure this is actually an issue as [name]Patrick[/name] has never been anything BUT [name]Patrick[/name], and [name]Bennett[/name] is only occassionally [name]Ben[/name] at home only. Also really like [name]Naomi[/name].

Again, GREAT advice that is very helpful and giving me lots to consider!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Cecily[/name] nn Cece? I love [name]Lemon[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Cecily[/name] too
