It's a Girl!

Hello! My name’s [name]Mary[/name] and we’re due [name]November[/name] 11 with a beautiful baby girl!! I think we’ve found a name but I’m wondering if it’s to masculine and I’d appreciate your honest opinions! Thank you!
The #1 name is: [name]Micah[/name] (pronounced my-kah) Breaux (pronounced Bro, my maiden name) VanEenenaam (pronounced exactly like it’s spelled).

I’ve always been a fan of boys names for girl, but i’m just not sure with the Breaux middle name if it makes it completely rediculously masculine.

Other names that we’re considering replacing the [name]Micah[/name] with are: [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], and [name]Hannah[/name].

Your opinion is much appreciated  Thank you! Have a great day!

I think [name]Micah[/name] sounds very feminine for a boy’s name. But with Breaux, it becomes a lot more masculine.
On the other hand, [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], and [name]Hannah[/name] are all super popular, so I like [name]Micah[/name] the best. I do love [name]Sophie[/name] though.

I agree with [name]Susan[/name]. [name]Micah[/name] is a more feminine leaning “boy’s name” and with a more feminine middle, would be fine. However, with Breaux I do think it leans much more towards boy when I hear it.

I like all of your replacement choices except that they’re all SO popular. At least [name]Micah[/name] is somewhat unique at this point.

Other ideas:
[name]Avery[/name] (still really popular)
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Micaela[/name] (this might be a perfect compromise??)
[name]Ainsley[/name]
[name]Marlowe[/name]

Agreed! Those are just the ONLY names that hubby and i could agree on. He tends to only like the more traditional, popular names. We’ve found it very difficult to come up with any names haha! And the Breaux middle name is not an option, its already decided so we’ve only got the first name to work with. Thanks for all your advice!

Ok, I like some boys names for girls but this one is a little far! Sorry! Another thing to think about is when she gets married and her husbands name it like [name]John[/name] or something it will be [name]John[/name] and [name]Micah[/name]. It will kinda seem like they are gay. Sorry. That is just something to think about. Another one is if you name this girl [name]Micah[/name] then you kinda need to name all of your girls boy names. These are just some things to think about! [name]Hope[/name] this helps a bit!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Mica[/name] Breaux- [name]Mica[/name] is the female [name]Micah[/name]. I also like [name]Micajah[/name] Breaux. [name]Micajah[/name] is male but sounds a little more feminine (imo).

Out of curiousity i looked up the meaning of Breaux and found this:

French (Br”aux): metathesized form of Beraud, a Germanic personal name composed of the elements ber(n) ”bear” + wald ”rule”. Compare Braud, Brault.
Dictionary of American Family Names, [name]Oxford[/name] University [name]Press[/name]

So feminine names that mean bear, I’m not really thinking of how well they go with [name]Micah[/name], just trying to give you ideas or inspiration:

[name]Arcadia[/name]
Berdine
[name]Bernadette[/name]
Orsina
[name]Orsola[/name]
[name]Ursula[/name] (love)

I don’t know if that’s going to be of any help, but I do know a girl named [name]Micah[/name] who is in her late 20’s and she’s quite beautiful and free spirited. I know a lot of people give her compliments on her name.

edited because I just saw that middle name breaux is definite, could use these as first name options…i like arcadia and ursula

There’s a new TV show out called Warehouse 13. The lead female’s name is [name]Myka[/name] (pronounced like your [name]Micah[/name]) and I thought it was fun and refreshing! (I’m not really loving that spelling, though…you’ll get people saying [name]Meeka[/name], instead) The show [name]JUST[/name] started, so who knows how it’ll do…but it might get some exposure and make the name feel LESS pulled towards the boys. I do think that its fun and fresh for a girl, but dated on a boy…

For me, [name]Micah[/name] is 100% boy, despite its feminine sound. [name]Even[/name] though the other names on which you and your husband can agree are very popular, I’d go with one of those (particularly [name]Sophie[/name]) over [name]Micah[/name].

If you’re using [name]Micah[/name] up front, though, I’d definitely stick with a feminine middle name.

Good luck!

I am not feeling the [name]Micah[/name] I knew a guy with that name and it seems to masculine for a girl name… its not like jordan or sklyar … what about

[name]Jadyn[/name]
[name]Kendra[/name]
COraleigh
Coranna
[name]Viviana[/name]
aviana
[name]Briella[/name]

For what it’s worth, I think [name]Micah[/name] would be super cute on a little girl!

Have you considered 2 middle names? If you make baby’s first middle name one of your other girly choices, and her second middle name Breaux, there would be no reason for confusion!

My favourite is [name]Micah[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] Breaux.

Good luck!

That is adorable!

I like [name]Micah[/name], but not the middle name. It makes it masculine. Other names that go well:
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Leah[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Jennifer[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Alexis[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

So I do not agree with all of you saying ‘micah’ is exclusively a boys name!! My name sounds identical but is spelled ‘myka’.
I love the spelling of this name. I was named for my dutch aunt who went my the same pronunciation but spelled as ‘Maaike’. In Canadian language the 3 vowels were difficult to express hence the named changed about 25 years ago to the new spelling!
I receive numerous compliments on my name and it’s spelling… and have many folks tell me they plan to name their girl [name]Myka[/name]. So go for it, you little girl will love a name that rings clear, is feminine, and not the same as everyone else in her pier groups. All the best!!

I think that [name]Micah[/name] is definitly a boy’s name what about [name]Mika[/name] Pronounced Mee - Kah) [name]Mika[/name] Breaux

[name]Do[/name] you like any of these?

I knew a female [name]Micah[/name] in college, I like it. I am not sure exactly how she spelled it, but I think it was [name]Mica[/name], like the rock/mineral.

[name]Micah[/name] is so popular in my area right now for boys. My nephew has 3 in his grade alone. I grew up with a girl names [name]Micah[/name] but I still dont think it is a good name for a girl. My main adversion to it is that it is a traditional biblical boys name. I just dont see names like [name]Micah[/name], [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Josiah[/name] as being “girly.” It is different when you are using trendier names like [name]Quinn[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] to justify there usage on girls. I would much prefer to have a beautiful feminine name like [name]Hannah[/name] or [name]Sophie[/name] if it were me.

Good luck!

I love this name for a BOY -[name]MICAH[/name]. the new trend is to name girls this name is a shame . I feel for all the boys that now have to deal with girls having their name ( [name]MICA[/name]) Please do not feminize this name. Please, Please do not do this. ITS a Boy name and a very Biblical name.

I love [name]Micah[/name] for a girl and if I were you I would not hesitate to use it. [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name] are all lovely, but very, very popular and don’t have the same spark they used to have for me. I’ve heard it all from to many people.

But to answer the question, I think [name]Micah[/name] Breaux is completely fine for a girl.

Sorry but it sounds very masculine to me as well. I’d either swap out the first name, add a second girlie middle name, or save your maiden name for a son.
