My husband and I joyfully welcomed [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_f]Islay[/name_f] early Thursday morning, [name_u]December[/name_u] 5th after 35 hours of labor.
We didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl, so finding out in that moment was almost overwhelming. I’d thought she was a girl though, she’s stubborn and feisty and [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], to us, fits her perfectly. We love tomboy names for girls and have this vision of her as a woman in her twenties, traveling the world, capable and strong. My middle name is [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and I’ve always wanted to name my daughter that, but with it’s popularity, we had to look at other names and came across [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and felt it was perfect.
We both have Scottish grandparents and in our travels to [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], [name_f]Islay[/name_f] has been one of our favorite places to be, so it was a nice feminine counterbalance to [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], along with being a place close to our hearts. We also knew that the pronunciation would confuse most people, so it was a good middle name option, rather than a first.
Overall, we’re very happy with our choice and even happier with our little one.
[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name. I love that it is a tomboy name but she always has the option of going by [name_f]Linnie[/name_f] if she wants something more girly. Congrats!
Congrats to you on the safe arrival of your baby girl, [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_f]Islay[/name_f]. I’m glad to hear that everything went well and you found a name you love.
