Hello berries,
I need some serious help! I’ve recently added [name_m]Axel[/name_m] to my boy names list, and I still have a lot of questions.
I have decided on [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] for possible sibling names, and I am happy with them as for now, so sibset issue doesn’t bother me.
Spelling, on the other hand, is undecided. I like [name_m]Axl[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] the best of all. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce them differently?
In my previous post, some berries mentioned [name_m]Axel[/name_m] reminds them of figure skating, and [name_m]Axl[/name_m] -of [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Are said associations off-putting? Would you think of Guns N’ Roses if you met a little [name_m]Axl[/name_m]?
And, the middle name. Or, to be more correct, middle names, since I usually make two middle name combinations. I would like to find some soft and more traditional names to balance out [name_m]Axel[/name_m], which is quite macho and bad boy-ish. I’ve been thinking [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] or [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Otis[/name_m], but I would like some fresh suggestions. So, all in all, I just want some input on spelling and middle names.
Thanks in advance!
I would immediately associate [name_m]Axl[/name_m] with Guns’n’Roses, yes. I teach an [name_m]Axel[/name_m] right now and he’s cool. I like the name spelled that way better, though I do think of both figure skating and a wheel with an axle…
I wouldn’t put [name_m]Axel[/name_m] and [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] together…it’s too rhymy. I’m also not a fan of two middle names (never met anyone who had them that liked it). [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is a handsome combo, though. Very unique and the names complement each other very well. I like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] a lot, too, and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I know [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is unisex, but I know a bunch of little girls named [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and the word association of [name_m]Axel[/name_m] already doesn’t work with [name_u]Sage[/name_u] for me.
I think the [name_m]Axel[/name_m] spelling is definitely the best and the one that people would automatically assume, so that’s the one I’d go with. I really like the sound of [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], which is my favourite of the three combo’s you listed.
I like the spellings either way and honestly they don’t invoke many images, esp. as I don’t know much about Guns + Roses, so it’s not like I know what to “picture” in my head… It’s becoming a much more “modern” name anyway.
If I absolutely had to pick, I probably would settle for [name_m]Axel[/name_m] being the choice spelling.
I think that your name [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] sounds amazing personally. Going off that, some suggestions.
Of all possible spellings: [name_m]Aksel[/name_m], of the two mentioned: [name_m]Axel[/name_m]. [name_m]Axl[/name_m] looks very ‘youneek’ and not authentic to me. I would also pronounce it differently than [name_m]Axel[/name_m]/[name_m]Aksel[/name_m], and would say it without any ‘e’ sound.
[name_m]Axl[/name_m] is 100 % Guns N’ Roses, [name_m]Axel[/name_m] could be anyone (though I would assume he had Swedish ancestry).
I like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. I’m really bad at combos, but what about: [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Valerian[/name_m] / [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Valerian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_m]Rhett[/name_m].
Thanks all! These were some helpful thoughts, I see I’ll probably go with the [name_m]Axel[/name_m] spelling. In my accent [name_m]Axl[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] sound very similar, but [name_m]Axel[/name_m] looks better written, I suppose.
I like the suggestions of [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. I want to like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], but I can’t make myself love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], plus with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Bach[/name_m] it sounds like a rockstar overkill to me.
Much prefer [name_m]Axel[/name_m], but I’d pronounce them the same either way.
I’m a figure skating fanatic, so my first association with the name is the jump, but it’s obviously a very positive association for me. (In fact, I’ve been kicking around the idea of using [name_m]Axel[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].)
I really like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]! Some other possibilities:
Thanks, mega_muffin! I am glad you like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], and I must say, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is a wonderful, unexpected idea. [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] is a very good combo! I like how the L-s flow.
Also, what do you all think of [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Holden[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]? I think I like [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m] even better than [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
Thanks! I really like [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] [name_m]Jerome[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] [name_m]Heath[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I only wonder if [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] is a bit dated…
I would love some more opinions, please. Suggestions are optional, so if you just want to say something, feel free to do so.
