Now the tough part, i swear a girl would have been much easier  My partner and I are pretty traditional when it comes to names.
A couple of names we have tossed around so far are:
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Orson[/name]
[name]Aiden[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Christian[/name]
[name]William[/name]/[name]Liam[/name]
Though not set in stone both our families tend to use family names as middle names (occasionally as first names also), so here is a list of male family names:
[name]Murray[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]David[/name]
[name]Kevin[/name]
[name]Augustine[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Sydney[/name]
Renton
[name]Stuart[/name]
[name]Alan[/name]
[name]Ross[/name]
[name]Campbell[/name]
I’m hoping some clever Nameberries out there might be able to suggest some good FN MN combinations or even any names which might suit our style that we haven’t thought of.
Can I spell [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Aidan[/name]? It’s the more traditional spelling and it would make my nerdiness so much happier, takes it a bit further from [name]Jayden[/name] etc.
[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Owen[/name], [name]Alastair[/name] [name]Malcolm[/name], [name]William[/name] [name]Alan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name] [name]Ross[/name], and [name]Liam[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] jump out at me from your list.
I like [name]Alan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], and [name]Alastair[/name], but I am leery of A.A. initials and also [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Alastair[/name] are variants of each other so I wouldn’t want to combine them anyway.
Congratulations on finding out your new addition is a little boy.
Many of the names on your list are names I would love to use on little boys myself as I too am quite traditional.
Looking at your lists (and adding some ideas of my own), here are some ideas:
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Murray[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] was the first name combination I got there, I think it sounds really good. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Oscar[/name].
I quite like double a names… [name]Alistair[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] sounds fine to me, but they both mean the same thing as someone above mentioned.
For some reason when I’m saying Renton, [name]Brown[/name] always pops up in my head after it… the only Renton I’ve heard of is [name]Ewan[/name] [name]McGregor[/name]'s character from the movie Trainspotting.
I like your list. Others you may like:
[name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Olin[/name]
[name]Odin[/name]
[name]Thorpe[/name]
[name]Abbott[/name]
[name]Hayes[/name]
[name]Lowell[/name]

Thank you so much everyone who replied, you have created a new problem we love so many of the options you have given :o I love how you have all taken such a jumble of names (in my mind) and turn them into so many awesome sounding combinations. I’ll keep you updated as we get closer to a decision.
I’m also reminded of Trainspotting (one of my favorite books) Renton was actually the characters surname he was a [name]Mark[/name] Renton. I’m not sure of the names origin, it was one of my grandfathers middle names and is also my uncles and his nephews first name. From my limited research I think it’s a surname come first name of Scottish origin. I think I might have to do a bit of an investigation to see when the name first popped up in our family
