It's time to come clean. Our last name is

I recently posted a couple of threads regarding the trouble we’re having deciding on a name for our baby boy, due in early [name_u]June[/name_u].

In an attempt to keep our last name private I mentioned in my last Post that the middle name will be [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. But that was a little white lie… You see, our last name is [name_f]Hen[/name_f]*ey (substitute the * for an ‘l’). Very similar in sound, but I’ve come to the realisation that sharing this is the only way to get some honest feedback. I also realise that the difference between a middle name and a last name is enormous :eek:

So, with all this in mind is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_f]Hen[/name_f]*ey too much?
Or will our other name, [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] be more suitable with our last name?

I don’t think it’s too close at all. They don’t share anything besides the first initial. Yes for [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!

As long as you don’t mind alliteration (many people don’t, and some people love it), then there’s no reason not to name your baby [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_f]Hen[/name_f]!y. I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!

I think it sounds great! Sometimes, alliteration can be a bit much, but I think it works perfectly here! Good choice, mama! Congratulations!

Both are great. I honestly say go with what you most love as the alliteration of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_f]Hen[/name_f]**y is not offensive.

While I woukd prefer [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] because alliterating names isn’t my style, there’s nothing Wrong with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_f]Hen[/name_f]*ey! It’s a great name.

Having the same initial for first and last name isn’t a bad thing as long as the names aren’t too matchy in overall sound. I’d give him a middle name that begins with a different letter, though maybe not one that would make his initials HAH or HEH.

It’s a great point about avoiding HAH and HEH initials. I hadn’t really given the middle name much thought as yet. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to get the okay about the first name before we consider middle name options :wink:
