My kiddos are [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. 5 letters with a double.
Legallly they are [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
With the exception of [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] all other names are from family and friends who have passed away. Hubby wanted just matthew [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] but they are both too common for me so I picked [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] from a list of 6 names he had picked.
I didn’t realize that [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] would both be 5 letters with a double until I got pregnant with our 3rd…and last! I just liked the NN [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].
We are having another girl.
This baby must have a name that follows suit I think. hubby says it doesn’t matter but he has not been helpful with giving name ideas.
I like names that are not too common (although both [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] have become popular! lol doesn’t that always happen though)
Hubby seems to like the most common names around. The only suggestions he has given for this baby are [name_u]Allison[/name_u] NN [name_u]Allie[/name_u] (my second cousin named her daughter [name_f]Alice[/name_f] NN [name_u]Allie[/name_u], we don’t see them more than once a year but I don’t really like allie or [name_u]Allison[/name_u]) and his grandmother is [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] and we could NN [name_f]Norra[/name_f] or [name_m]Norry[/name_m]. Im not excited about [name_f]Lenora[/name_f].
Please help.
Again I don’t really like common names like [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] NN [name_u]Jessy[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] NN [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f].
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f] nn for a whole host of names.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
Cyann
[name_f]Calli[/name_f] for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] or [name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f] for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
I’m kind of with your husband on this one though. I mean I totally understand your not wanting to break your trend and make the new girl feel left out (I inadvertently fell into my own trend), but I don’t think you necessarily have to follow through with it completely. Especially, since it’s nicknames we’re talking about. Maybe find a name you really like that can have a nickname with double letters, but don’t insist on it being 5 letters. If it does have 5, great. If not, no biggie.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] (there’s also [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], but it’s popular)
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - [name_u]Penny[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - [name_f]Betty[/name_f]
[name_f]Katharine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]/[name_f]Katrina[/name_f] - [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - [name_f]Genny[/name_f]. I feel like I don’t hear [name_f]Gen[/name_f]/[name_f]Jen[/name_f] on little kids? Unlikely to share it at school.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - [name_u]Josie[/name_u]/[name_f]Posie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] nn [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] ugh!
[name_u]Rue[/name_u] nn Roo
I may come back later, sleep deprived, so I can only give you a few to start, maybe someone can come with a full name for some of these…
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_u]Nelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_u]Berry[/name_u]
[name_u]Gabby[/name_u]
[name_f]Tabby[/name_f] : [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (Unless having more than one child with the same first letter bothers you.)
Jelly (I really wonder if anyone can come up with a fully name for this. Jelly [name_m]Bean[/name_m] is also cute.)
I like the previous suggestions of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Constance[/name_f] nn [name_f]Conny[/name_f]
Some more ideas:
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nella[/name_f]

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hatty[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] nn Sassy
[name_f]Appoline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]
[name_f]Appoline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] nn [name_u]Gabby[/name_u]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ettie[/name_f]

[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] nn [name_f]Milly[/name_f]
[name_f]Alyssia[/name_f] nn Lissy
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tammy[/name_f]
[name_f]Bettina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bette[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] nn [name_m]Jazzy[/name_m]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] nn [name_u]Abbey[/name_u]
Would like to know what names you like, if you weren’t worrying about your trend
if I wasn’t going to follow the trend these are the names on my list:
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
Kinlee, [name_f]Kinley[/name_f], Kinleigh (not sure how I like it spelt)
Names that have a double but unsure about shortening them or not having a long version are:
[name_f]Alanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Aleena[/name_f]
[name_f]Aiyanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Arissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alinna[/name_f]
Laynne
[name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivica[/name_f]
Leilanni
[name_f]Ameera[/name_f]
Names that follow the trend if I add an extra letter…I know most don’t like this but I already did it with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] so it doesn’t bother me
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] NN [name_f]Corra[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] NN [name_f]Norra[/name_f] (this is hubbys grandmothers name and I like [name_f]Norra[/name_f] but not thrilled about [name_f]Lenora[/name_f].)
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] or [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] NN [name_f]Addie[/name_f]- has become pretty popular
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] NN Vivvy (but that’s 3 v’s)
Names I cant find a longer version for:
[name_f]Karra[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]- I wont name my child after the syrup lady! lol
I do have [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] NN lilly or Lilee on the list but thinking its too popular and old sounding for me
Also have
[name_f]Ivey[/name_f]
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] NN [name_f]Bree[/name_f] but its only 4 letters and I don’t like [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] (to twighlight for me)
I have a lot of names but none seem to be “The One” and I have not shown hubby the list because he never seem sto like anything I mention. I have mentioned [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] NN [name_f]Corra[/name_f] to him and he didn’t seem impressed or even have anything to say about it. He has been no help at all!!!
To be honest I wouldn’t let yourself be too limited by your rules… Maybe you could relax them a bit by finding a name that has a double letter nickname but not worry about the five letters…? Or vise versa…? I don’t think anyone would ever notice… But understand that it would irk you…
Hmmmm anyway, based on your list above, how about-
[name_u]Linden[/name_u] nn [name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_u]McKinley[/name_u] nn Kinlee
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lenna[/name_f]
As far as adding an extra letter, it seems like a bit of a stretch, particularly in cases where I think it would actually change the way I would pronounce the name eg [name_f]Norra[/name_f] vs [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] vs [name_f]Corra[/name_f], [name_f]Kara[/name_f] vs [name_f]Karra[/name_f]
[name_f]Alanna[/name_f] could have the nickname [name_f]Lanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and [name_f]Lanna[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Larissa[/name_f] nn Lissy
[name_f]Marissa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Missy[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Crissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rinna[/name_f]
[name_f]Elenora[/name_f] nn [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] nn [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f] nn [name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] nn [name_f]Jinny[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tibby[/name_f]
[name_f]Melinda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Milly[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] NN [name_f]Corra[/name_f] - I like this one a lot actually
[name_u]Cameron[/name_u] nn [name_f]Cammy[/name_f] or [name_f]Carra[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cassy[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] nn [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Briella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rella[/name_f] or Relly
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is only in the mid 300’s and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is in the mid 200’s—and both [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] are super cute nicknames!
