Ivo M___? Due in July!

I’m due with a boy in late [name_u]July[/name_u] and would love some feedback. It is very important to me that we in some way commemorate my late father and late maternal grandmother with our son’s name. My husband supports this. To me, this means using some combination of the name Iv0 and a name with the first initial of ‘M’ (as per my maternal family tradition).

My top choice right now is Iv0 Maur1ce.
I seem to keep coming back to it, and it really feels like it could be the name of this baby! My husband liked it a lot, but has recently started meh to [name_u]Maurice[/name_u] much to my sadness.
He prefers Iv0 M0rdecai
He recently found out that one of his great grandfathers was originally named M0rdecai before changing it when he moved to the US. It was also the middle name of my grandfather’s namesake (my great-great grandfather). I do like it, but it just feels a little harsh to me and I just don’t love it as much as the softer Iv0 Maur1ce. I might have an uphill battle with its family significance though.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though these seem to be our top names, I want to come up with some alternatives to have in our back pocket. There are a few personal reasons keeping us from getting too excited about Iv0 as a first name just yet.

So, we’re trying to come up with an ‘M’ name that we like enough to use as a first name. Neither [name_u]Maurice[/name_u] nor [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] feels like first name material to us (although we’ve discussed [name_m]Morris[/name_m] a little), and we can’t come up with any other ‘M’ names we both love. I like the idea of [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m] (he prefers [name_m]Marcel[/name_m]) nn [name_u]Mars[/name_u] but dislike the association with the god of war (especially since baby flashed us a peace sign during our anatomy scan :)). We’ve ruled out the other usual ‘M’ suspects, but I was wondering whether anyone out here has any brilliant non-obvious ideas!

A potential 3rd option is using a different FN with just Iv0 or Iv0 M__ as middle(s). Our list so far:

[name_m]Felix[/name_m] - probably my husband’s favorite name, but he is hesitant to use it because a friend of his jokingly calls him [name_m]Felix[/name_m] because my husband was mistakenly called this multiple times by one of their professors. I also fear its growing popularity.

[name_m]Orson[/name_m] - A new favorite of my husband’s but I’m not so sure. I really like it, but is this the name of my son?

There are several other names my husband is receptive to, but none feels quite right to me yet. I’m definitely being the difficult one, even though I’m the name nerd! Always the perfectionist I guess. It doesn’t help that these names don’t have much meaning for us :-/

In summary,

  1. What are your thoughts on Iv0 Maur1ce? What about Iv0 M0rdecai? What images do these names conjure for you?
  2. Any interesting M names that would fit our style?
  3. Any other suggestions based on our taste?

We haven’t discussed it extensively, but a girl would likely have been Eul@lie [name_f]Cat/name_farina. Finally, our last name sounds like ‘holiday’ if that helps at all.

Thanks!

NB: I don’t really want our name to be google-able, hence all the weird spellings. If you could use these spellings in your replies, I would greatly appreciate it!
