[name_m]Orson[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] sound like promising options, especially [name_m]Orson[/name_m]. Maybe sit on those for a little and see if they grow on you more?

As for M names what about:

[name_m]Merrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_u]Murray[/name_u]
[name_m]Marco[/name_m]
[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m]
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] (seems a little more accessible than [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m], although I [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] is fine in the middle spot, especially with the family connections)
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_m]Melvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Marshall[/name_m]
[name_m]Martin[/name_m]/[name_m]Marvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Manuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Maximillian[/name_m]/[name_m]Maximus[/name_m]/[name_m]Maximo[/name_m]

F3L1x Iv0 M0rd3c@1 I think is your keeper, lots of good connections on those middles for your family and F being your fave <3 I think its just so sweet, sometimes middles can be harsher or just kinda more than we would go with for a first but they get to keep it and its meaningful FIM_ are decent initials or just FI_ however you choose to do the name and I don’t think Félix is over used, I love it though and Felicity, I think either is just a real winner. But a friend of mine used felicity so I super can’t ever use them. I think that you’re feelings are spot on with all this and this is your best combination but Orson is cute too just a lot of the letter o in the name and if there are any in the surname that’s just way too much in my mind.

Personally, I prefer Iv0 M0rd3c@1 since M0rd3c@1 was on our own list of possible middles. It’s also nice that M0rd3c@1 would honor both families. I do think the combo is edgier and more modern sounding than Iv0 Maur1ce, though. It seems like your style leans more toward soft and vintage.

Some other possible M names:

[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_u]Merle[/name_u]
[name_m]Melchior[/name_m]
[name_u]Michel[/name_u]

I only came to add the name [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] nn [name_u]Marsh[/name_u] or even [name_u]Mars[/name_u] to your list.

I love [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] - I only heard it recently, but I think it’s beautiful! Personally, I prefer Iv0 Maur1ce, because the softness of Maur1ce balances Iv0 really well - I feel the same way about Iv0 [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] Iv0 M0rd3c@i is also lovely though, if a bit harsher. You’ve got some gorgeous choices!

@jtay07 - I agree that sitting on the names is a good idea. I wish my husband would have talked names with me earlier so I could have had a better sense of his style earlier! Thank you for the suggestions, but I don’t think any of them will work for us, unfortunately. You did actually get my grandfather’s actual name on your list ([name_u]Murray[/name_u])! Sadly, my husband doesn’t want to use it

@dinosaursroar - Yes, I like the idea of three names, but my husband is now starting to question it! Ugh! There’s still time, so he might come around. I’m still not set on [name_m]Felix[/name_m] or [name_m]Orson[/name_m] though, so we’ll see.

@mega_muffin - I’m glad you like [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m]. I actually hadn’t thought of [name_m]Melchior[/name_m], but, since one of the things I don’t love about [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] is its religious undertones, I’m not sure it would work

@lainy - I wish I could love surname names, but I just can’t seem to get myself to do so :frowning:

@cydney eleanor - I’m so glad to hear that you like [name_m]Ivo[/name_m]!!! I really hope that my husband comes around and we can use Maur1ce, since that’s still my favorite

My husband suggested [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] the other day. I think it’s cute, but just not substantial enough. I am starting to come around to Mordec@i, but I still don’t love it. I hate that it’s so tied to the religious namesake and I really would like to give him a middle I really like in case he ever wants to go by his middle name. This is so tough!!

Any other thoughts?

I mostly came to say I love Iv0.

I like it with both M@urice and M0rdec@i, though they’re quite different feeling to me.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce M@urice with the emphasis on the second syllable (Mawh-[name_u]REESE[/name_u]), or more like Morr1s?
If the former, I think the flow of Iv0 M@urice ‘H0liday’ is better than Iv0 M0rdec@i ‘H0liday’ (though really, both are nice).

I also really like Iv0 M@rcel ‘H0liday’ is really nice. M@rcel actually feels more like M@urice to me than M@rcellus does (and more like M@urice than like M0rdec@i) - it’s got a similar gentleness, with that soft c and the emphasis on the second syllable. I understand the uneasiness about the [name_u]Mars[/name_u] connection, but there are lots of less martial connotation to the name, too - [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] Duchamp, [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] [name_m]Marceau[/name_m], [name_m]Proust[/name_m].
F3lix 1V0 M@urice H0lid@y is nice too.

Really, I think you can’t go wrong. It might be a matter of balancing input - if you feel like you’re the one who loves names, and your husband doesn’t mind much, then maybe try Iv0 M@urice or Iv0 [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m]. If it seems important that your husband has input and feels involved in the process, then Iv0 Mordec@1, Iv0 Marc3l or F3lix Iv0 Maur1ce might be a reasonable compromise (if the Iv0 M honours your family).

If your husband’s happy with Iv0 Morr1s, that also seems like a good solution.
My other thought was [name_m]Mathias[/name_m] / [name_m]Mateo[/name_m] or [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], but I see [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] have been suggested above.

@a_r - Thank you so much for your response. I’m so sorry I didn’t see it sooner. It makes me so happy to hear that you like [name_m]Ivo[/name_m]!

We’re still in naming limbo, but things are progressing and changing - not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing! We certainly have a lot more to think about and discuss.
