Ivor, Ivar, Iver

Thoughts on this name? Which spelling and how do you pronounce it? Are different spellings pronounced differently? I’m leaning towards [name_m]Ivor[/name_m] primarily because it didn’t get autocorrected by my phone… that’s where I’m at in my life.

Which spelling?
  • [name_m]Ivor[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Iver[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Ivar[/name_m]

I think of the antagonist in “Minecraft: [name_u]Story[/name_u] Mode”.

I’d pronounce it eye-vuh. It’s a cool name!

I’ve always preferred [name_m]Iver[/name_m] spelling so it has more of a softer pronunciation.
However I would maybe choose [name_m]Ivor[/name_m] if I were to use it for my son as I have Scottish heritage. I would still pronounce eye-vuh.
I voted [name_m]Iver[/name_m]

Absolutely love [name_m]Ivar[/name_m].
[name_m]Ivor[/name_m] is the Scottish version. [name_m]Ivar[/name_m] is the Scandinavian version. [name_m]Ivar[/name_m] would be Ee-var in Scandinavian countries.
One of my all time favourite boy combos is [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_m]Ivar[/name_m].

This is the name of a good friend. He’s Canadian of [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] ancestry. Spells it [name_m]Ivar[/name_m]. Pronounces it eye-ver.

I like the name itself, but dislike that it has multiple legitimate spellings (not just modern kree8ive spellings). That being said, if you have claim to one spelling’s origins moreso than the others, I think that would be a sensible way to pick a spelling.
