Is the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] too prone to annoying nicknames like poison ivy, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] League, etc? I really like the name and when I proposed it to DH I was worried he’d say poison ivy right off the bat. Surprisingly he actually liked the name and was open to it. But now I’M worried about that issue!
I’m looking for an alternative to [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (my son’s absolute favorite name, but it’s so popular now) and I thought that was a nice compromise.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is one of my favourites!! (So is [name_f]Violet[/name_f], by the way) I don’t associate it with poison ivy or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] League, perhaps because I’m Australian. I just think of vines.
Although I do associate it with those nicknames, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] isn’t exactly and uncommon name (it isn’t on the rise like [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but it’s not extremely unique) so I don’t think those references would be a big issue.
I agree with pp’s, I don’t think it’s a problem.
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]! I think those nicknames could crop up at some point, I don’t think it’s going to be frequent or overwhelming. I hope you go for it!
