haha! I know, I must be crazy, because I am over thinking EVERYTHING about this naming process. My other DD is named [name]Annabel[/name]. We like old fashioned, vintage names (I say we, but really my DH likes more traditional names more. Like [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Amanda[/name], [name]Rachel[/name]ā¦). Currently our list is:
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
We both have loved [name]Ivy[/name] a long time but I am having this mental block because⦠well⦠[name]Ivy[/name] as a plant appears to be quite annoying/irritating, not to mention the poison ivy connection, allergies to different ivyās⦠would this deter you from using the name? Would you make that connection at ALL or am I seriously just way over analyzing?
I know that ivy on a house is practically impossible to kill and pretty much takes over the house, almost ruining its exterior in some cases. Why does this bother me? I want a positive connection to the name. I do think that [name]Ivy[/name] has positive connections, which is why I canāt quite let it go. It is independent, strong, pretty⦠but would the other associations bother you?
I actually really love it when old brick houses/buildings have [name]Ivy[/name] on them⦠I think it is really pretty and sort of fairy-tale ish. I know that in real life it is a bit of a pain to get rid of, but when I think of the name [name]Ivy[/name], I think of it in a much more pleasant way! That is just my opinion on it. I donāt think that many people would hear young [name]Ivy[/name]'s name and think āOh, that stuff is so annoyingā but I also think that your opinion matters, obviously =), since you are the mom. If it is really what first comes to mind for you, I would probably go for one of your other choices just so that it doesnāt bother you! I really love all [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], and [name]Phoebe[/name] too!
To be honest I love [name]Ivy[/name]! [name]Both[/name] the plant and the name are gorgeous! When I think of [name]Ivy[/name] I donāt think of poison [name]Ivy[/name], I think of grand and stately buildings draped in ivy and the gorgeous brilliant red devilās [name]Ivy[/name] which is stunning. If you love the name you should definitely use it.
When I hear [name]Ivy[/name] I think of vintage, and years of history as a name, and old, grand, antique buildings covered in [name]Ivy[/name]. Also I think of the secret garden type scenes. Iām not sure why, but I think those are good images! And I am extremely allergic to poison ivy and it is miserable if I ever get it and I am even considering [name]Ivy[/name] for a middle name!
I have class with an [name]Ivey[/name]. Though I donāt like that spelling; [name]Ivy[/name] is nice and a twist on [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] :).
I love [name]Ivy[/name]! I donāt think the plant is annoying, but then again, Iām not a homeowner and donāt have to tear it off the bricks of my house. But parents constantly complained about the juniper bushes we used to have and while [name]Juniper[/name] is nms to begin with, my parentsā irritation with the plant definitely keeps it off my list. [name]Even[/name] though my parents have commented on ivy growing before, my mom always points out how pretty it looks.
I think [name]Ivy[/name] is great Iād use it for sure, and itās perfect with [name]Annabel[/name]!
I think ivy-covered buildings are beautiful, (even though it may not be the best thing for the structureā¦) I have nothing but positive associations with ivy. I think itās a beautiful plant and makes a cute, spunky name for a little girl.
I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Ivy[/name] too. Itās a charming, beautiful, distinctive name, imo. I have only good associations with the plant and think of [name]Ivy[/name] League colleges. If I had a dozen daughters, I would almost certainly use [name]Ivy[/name].
I actually have a century-old brick home with ivy growing up the side. Is there maintenance involved? Certainly. Is it regal, yet whimsical? Absolutely. The name and plant are both beautiful, and I think it would be a fabulous name for a little girl.
I must be late to the [name]Ivy[/name] bandwagon. I know itās been a long-time name nerd favorite, but itās just now starting to grow on me, mostly as a middle name. The āannoying plantā connection doesnāt bother me at all. I think of the Batman villainess first, then the regular ivy plants I often see wrapped around in peopleās gardens.
I like your other names too, although Iām not really partial to [name]Felicity[/name].
I wouldnāt allow the plant connection deter me from [name]Ivy[/name] if I truly loved it. But if you are on the fence maybe it would be a great mn?
Iād prefer [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] as a sib-set as is. I like when siblings have names that are similar in length and [name]Annabel[/name] is twice as long as [name]Ivy[/name] - making the second too short.
Iām partial to short, sweet names. I love nature names and love [name]Ivy[/name]! I also think of the beautiful old homes covered with [name]Ivy[/name]. There are many where I live!
I love [name]Ivy[/name]. The poison ivy association doesnāt even cross my mind. I think [name]Ivy[/name] is a beautiful name that would suit a girl / woman at any age.
I love [name]Ivy[/name] and I donāt think that its to short to pair with [name]Annabel[/name]! I think [name]Ivy[/name] goes better with [name]Annabel[/name] than [name]Fiona[/name] or [name]Pheobe[/name] (all I think is Friends although I donāt think any kids will have that association). I think it would be great with a longer (3-4 syllable) middle name.
I love [name]Felicity[/name]!
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]?
