I am unexpectedly expecting baby #5, and thinking about names to distract myself from how crazy that feels. My lists are super short though and I’m looking for inspiration! I like recognizable and easy to spell, but not super trendy (fine with it becoming more popular, just hopefully not rocketing up the charts). I don’t want to repeat first letters of my other children’s names. I might like an -a ending for a girl or -o for a boy? Not totally set on that, but it would give each child a unique sound.

Here are my thoughts for a little brother or sister-

Girls:

Ada-I think that [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is really sweet, smart & pretty. It’s simple & vintage & goes perfectly w/your crew. It’s getting kind of popular, but I don’t think that it’s top ten material.

Rosa-This is okay. I really adore [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] even [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]. I can’t get into just [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] though. Maybe it feels too dramatic?

Thea-Too bad, I like this. It gives me very similar vibes to [name_f]Ada[/name_f], but maybe less common. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is really getting popular for a boy though.

Eliza-This is good. I don’t like it as much as the [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. Maybe I’m just annoyed that it’s getting trendy due to [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m].

Ramona-This is a name that I should like, but just can’t get into. It’s perfectly nice & well known but not popular. I just think that it sounds a little bit heavy.

Boys:

Emile-I agree that this is not quite right if you’re in the U.S. People won’t know how to say it & think that it sounds feminine.

Franklin-This is cute & totally fits w/the vibe of [name_m]Martin[/name_m] & [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] especially.

Sylvan-Not into this one. Something about it sounds snake-y…which is weird, because I really like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] for a girl.

Your children have lovely names I especially adore [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] that’s beautiful swooning over [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f].

Anyways moving onto baby #5 from your list I love all your girls with my favourite being [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name that has this old school Hollywood glamour vibe she’s stunning feeling rather refreshing. I like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] in your sibling set especially as your girls have strong word associations that feel connected to nature. The name [name_u]June[/name_u] has so many nature connections in my opinion so I feel that [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] definitely is in keeping. After [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] my favourite is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] for your sibling set.

I think [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] or [name_f]Raya[/name_f] would be a good addition for your children. [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] (Ree-ah) and [name_f]Raya[/name_f] (Ray-ah).

Another thing I noticed is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] has 3 letter, [name_u]June[/name_u] has 4, [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] has 5 and [name_m]Martin[/name_m] has 5. So a cute pattern for your 5th child is to have 7 letters.

Does anyone have any thoughts on [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]? Is the world ready for baby Stewie? [name_u]Will[/name_u] everyone talk to him in the Family [name_m]Guy[/name_m] voice? Is it too serious for our sibset? It’s a family name, and could definitely go in a middle slot. [name_u]Or[/name_u] not, only two of our kids have nods to relatives in their names.

I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]! [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] are great as well. I really like [name_m]Emile[/name_m] and don’t think it’s too much for Americans.

[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] would go well with siblings and gives you that O ending. Other suggestions: [name_u]Brett[/name_u], [name_m]Brent[/name_m], [name_u]William[/name_u], [name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_u]Noel[/name_u], [name_u]Dean[/name_u], [name_u]Eli[/name_u], [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] or [name_m]Clark[/name_m].

I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. Others are: [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Adella[/name_f].

Gut check. [name_u]August[/name_u] is totally out since I already have a [name_u]June[/name_u], right? I really love [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]Auggie[/name_m]. [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Fergus[/name_m] are lovely but weird with the sibset and no cultural ties (plenty of Scottish and Irish blood, but no one in the family even knew until I did our tree on ancestry, lol).

Update:

We’re pretty set on [name_f]Ada[/name_f] if it’s a girl. All of the boy names I suggested are off the table though. DH has the same issues with [name_m]Emile[/name_m] that he always had, still doesn’t like [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] (I’ve been trying since child #2), and apparently [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] is too inextricably linked to [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] for him to deal with. [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (the other obvious way to Frankie) is also out because he can only think of [name_u]Francis[/name_u] Underwood from House of Cards :laughing: If we end up finding out it’s a boy, I may wait until the awesome looking new Batman movie comes out and give [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] a hard sell. [name_u]Andy[/name_u] Serkis is playing [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and should update the dusty old man vibe a bit. I really love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], but [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is a bit too fancy for us.

ETA: also thinking over [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], possibly with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname.
