In the poll I chose [name]Iris[/name].
I like [name]Jessamine[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Lilac[/name], and [name]Soleil[/name] too, and my favourite is [name]Jessamine[/name].
rollo
I MUCH prefer [name]Iris[/name] over [name]Ivy[/name]. I know it’s popular on here but I don’t get the appeal of [name]Ivy[/name]. I don’t think of beautiful green vines…I think of the IVs they give you in the hospital. I also quite like your husbands vote for [name]Lilac[/name].
I like [name]Lilac[/name] the best. [name]Claire[/name] is nice too or [name]Clara[/name].
I prefer [name]Ivy[/name], it’s just prettier to me. [name]Iris[/name] is fine, I just don’t like the sound as much.
I prefer [name]Iris[/name] in general, although I really love both. I think [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Claire[/name] would be a phenomenal choice!
[name]Ivy[/name] is pretty and sounds so sweet but I see it being the new [name]Chloe[/name] in a big way. [name]Iris[/name] is gorgeous!
I voted for [name]Iris[/name], but I like both a lot.
-[name]Athena[/name]
I would adore this combo too.
Thank you so much everybody. I’m glad to see each has its fans, and [name]Iris[/name] did better than I expected which is making me look at it in a new way!
Thank you, everyone who voted or replied!
I prefer [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Iris[/name] like you said feels a little old ladyish to me too. I love [name]Hazel[/name] though!
I love both but prefer [name]Ivy[/name].
It’s hard to choose. I like them both equally but my pick is [name]Iris[/name] because I’ve personally heard it less than [name]Ivy[/name].
I chose [name]Iris[/name], I used to love both but I feel like [name]Ivy[/name] is a bit more trendy then [name]Iris[/name]. [name]Iris[/name] to me has never had a old lady feel, it’s been around the same popularity for the past 50 years. Highest was 519 {in 1996}, in 2011 it was at 303 and in 1962 it was at 365. For the most part it’s been somewhere in the 400’s for the past 50 years which says a lot.
[name]Ivy[/name] in the past 50 years has steadily climbed the charts starting at 720 in 1962 & is now at 266 in the year 2011. [name]Ivy[/name] also doesn’t have the same imagery to me as [name]Iris[/name] does. [name]Iris[/name] makes me think of the rainbows and flowers while [name]Ivy[/name] makes me think of thorns and poison ivy.
Anyway both are good names, I just love [name]Iris[/name] so much more.
I like [name]Iris[/name] more, probably because of the beautiful flowers and I am a sucker for purple colored flowers. [name]Ivy[/name] has a nice sound though, and it comes in close.
I prefer [name]Ivy[/name] because I do feel [name]Iris[/name] is a bit older lady sounding. However I just met a new co-worker yesterday who looks to be under 25 and her name is [name]Iris[/name]! So what do I know… I also really like [name]Lilac[/name], and [name]Jessamine[/name] is a great name I rarely hear around here ([name]Washington[/name] DC).
In the poll I voted for [name]Ivy[/name], but after reading all of the comments I feel like [name]Iris[/name] would be a better choice. Because it’s less heard of, your daughter will be less likely to walk around as [name]Iris[/name] A. or [name]Iris[/name] B. where as [name]Ivy[/name] A. or [name]Ivy[/name] B. would be quite possible.
Also, I’m rather fond of [name]Lilac[/name]… I would suggest [name]Iris[/name] [name]Lilac[/name] but the name is so purple. lol.
good luck with the name choice and either way you choose it’s bound to be a lovely name!!!

I love both [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]! It’s hard to choose a favorite. [name]Ivy[/name] is my favorite today, but [name]Iris[/name] may be my favorite tomorrow!
I like [name]Iris[/name]. It’s still fresh and cute but it’s a little more mature. [name]Iris[/name] works best for all ages.
