DH and I are expecting our 2nd daughter, due in [name_f]October[/name_f].
Our top girls name is [name_f]Willa[/name_f], but we have a fear:
Are we naming ourselves against the wall? Is [name_f]Willa[/name_f] too much like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]? Not as in similar, but as in both 2 syllables and nature-y (since [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is so close to [name_f]Willow[/name_f]).
Would we have to choose a nature-y name that is 2 syllables long if baby #3 is a girl as well?
We’re not even sure if there’s going to be a #3! Are we over-reacting? Should we use [name_f]Willa[/name_f] anyway?
They are not too close. They match, yes… and it is a lovely sibset. You can do anything for a third child without worrying if it will be perfectly paired with the same syllables or cadence.
Absolutely use [name_f]Willa[/name_f]! I love the name and have for years, and it’s genuinely never even occurred to me that it was close to [name_f]Willow[/name_f]: I certainly wouldn’t group it in with nature names.
I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] are lovely together. I do not think you will lock yourself into a nature theme if you were to have a third daughter.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] are charming together! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] isn’t really a nature name so you’re not starting a theme there. And the syllables are not important at all [name_f]IMO[/name_f], although it might be strange if you named a third daughter something really long like [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I think it works wonderfully with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Although I agree that it suggests [name_f]Willow[/name_f], it’s not really a nature name and so the match is subtle. It has some spunk and I can imagine it both on little girls and grown women, which I think is critical for a name.
Go for it! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a lovely choice. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] are a beautiful sibset, and you have plenty of options for style if you have another child.
I think it’d be fine! [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is similar to [name_f]Willow[/name_f] in sound/spelling, but it’s not [name_f]Willow[/name_f] (I don’t even think they’re related?), so it’s not naturey at all. I don’t think you’re locking yourself into a nature theme. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] are very pretty together!
I prefer [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] to [name_f]Willa[/name_f] with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Winn[/name_u], sounds amazing. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is such a flowing name and aristocratic, but [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is really sweet, natural and spunky. I also like [name_f]Edith[/name_f], to get [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and I love the spelling [name_f]Edythe[/name_f].
