[name_u]Jace[/name_u] is a continual problem for me; my OH loves it and I like it in theory but we can’t agree on it.
He wants just [name_u]Jace[/name_u] but would use it as a nickname for [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. I don’t think [name_u]Jace[/name_u] should be the “official” name and I don’t like [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. I can’t think of anyway to get to [name_u]Jace[/name_u] without using the initials J.C. but OH doesn’t like that idea.
Any ideas on how to compromise or do we just look for a new name?
Might be a bit of a stretch, but [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] nicknamed [name_u]Jace[/name_u] wouldn’t be too out there, would it? [name_m]Just[/name_m] because all the letters are practically there (if we take the I as a J)… Fine, sorry, that is just me with my weird “nicknames-can-be-from-anything” habit. But I love the meaning of [name_m]Jason[/name_m], from the Greek verb for “to heal”, and it is such a strong, rugged name. Also, [name_m]Jason[/name_m] ([name_u]Golden[/name_u] Fleece [name_m]Jason[/name_m]) was pretty awesome (ahem if you ignore his heartless abandonment of [name_f]Medea[/name_f]) so. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps in a confused sort of way…
[name_m]Just[/name_m] looked at original post, and it turns out that I can’t read and that this didn’t actually answer the question. So feel free to ignore it, sorry
I think [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is a lovely name, and just as Ciottolo mentioned I like [name_m]Jason[/name_m] and the [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Fleece story as well, but if you aren’t set on that name, [name_u]Jace[/name_u] really isn’t a terrible first name either, I find it rather handsome! There’s always [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] as a first name too. You could always call him by his middle name, possibly [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Jason[/name_m], or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Jace[/name_u]?
I really do think [name_u]Jace[/name_u] is lovely enough to be upon his own a first
Thanks ladies. I don’t mind [name_m]Jason[/name_m] as a name but for me it is irrevocably tied to my cousin who I don’t particularly care for.
OH suggested spelling it [name_m]Jasen[/name_m] to distinguish it but I’m not a fan of changing names.
Does [name_u]Jace[/name_u] [name_m]Baker[/name_m] sound choppy?
[name_u]Jace[/name_u] is an ok name, I do prefer it as a nn to something like [name_m]Jason[/name_m], but your reasoning for not like [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is a good one! If you could possibly move past that, I think [name_m]Jason[/name_m] nn [name_u]Jace[/name_u] is perfect!!
I like the idea of using J.C. as initials to get to [name_u]Jace[/name_u]. Are there no other J or C names you can agree on? For example, [name_m]Jack[/name_m]/[name_m]Justin[/name_m]/[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m]/[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]/[name_m]Clark[/name_m]?
As far as [name_u]Jace[/name_u] [name_m]Baker[/name_m] goes, I like the uniqueness of the name, but my ear goes right to [name_m]Baker[/name_m] and sort of skips by [name_u]Jace[/name_u]. I don’t know if that makes sense or not.
I don’t really see how you get [name_u]Jace[/name_u] from [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], unless you have a mn that starts with a J.
I hope you can reach an agreement, I understand how frustrating name dilemmas can be!
We both like [name_u]James[/name_u] but there are no C names we can agree on. He wants [name_m]Chad[/name_m] after his dad and I would rather something like [name_m]Conall[/name_m], or [name_m]Caine[/name_m]. He also suggested Claymore.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] seems fairly reasonable, and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] might work.
I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] but the repeated -ers in [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m] seem too repetitive to me. And OH has a cousin named [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] that we see quiet frequently.
His family is huge and they try to avoid repeating names.
I don’t mind [name_u]Jace[/name_u] on its own. I know a little [name_u]Jace[/name_u] and Jayse (<please don’t spell it like this though, lol)
GL :).
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. I grew up with one whose buddies call him [name_u]Jace[/name_u] or J on occasion.
Jayse makes me want to pronounce it like J.C.
I don’t know where OH pulled his love of [name_u]Jace[/name_u] from. I read it in a book and found if okay but didn’t love it. My RL association was a boy a grade ahead of me who went by [name_u]Jace[/name_u] but his name was [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] C. LN.
[name_m]Clay[/name_m] is a family name so I’ve tried to find ways to work it in but they all seem to directly honor his brother [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] “[name_m]Clay[/name_m]” which might lead to having to honor all his siblings. Any ideas?
This list is just C names I could possibly use but I’m not 100% sure on them. [name_f]Do[/name_f] with it what you will.
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Conall[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] Claymore [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Chad[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Conan[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Colton[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] Conrí [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Crispin[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Carsten[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]
I think its the mortal instruments series with a character called [name_u]Jace[/name_u] and from what my friends have told me its from his initials J.C. I adore [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] from your list.
