[name_m]Hi[/name_m],
Looking for some thoughts or votes on the names [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m]. We have chosen [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but have since come across so many [name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s. Now with my first daughter it would not have mattered if there were 200 of her name because I loved it. The fact that I’m bothered makes me wonder if it’s not right name. [name_m]Clay[/name_m] would go with our girl’s name ( [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Carly[/name_f]) that both end in “y” . Also there names are 2 syllables and I can’t seem to find a 2 syllable name that I like. So any thoughts on the names. Also, concerned about curse words that go with this name and don’t want him to be called [name_u]Jackie[/name_u].
Our last name is [name_m]Miller[/name_m]. Also like the name [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. What name do you like?
If you want two syllables, you could opt for [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] and call him [name_m]Clay[/name_m]. I do think [name_m]Clay[/name_m] is quite close to [name_f]Carly[/name_f], but the sounds may be sufficiently different to make it okay. I do like the name [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but like you, I know of several young boys named [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. [name_u]Mason[/name_u], too, though seems fairly ubiquitous, and I don’t think it has nearly the flair or sophistication that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] has.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_f]Carly[/name_f], and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] are very cute together, and I would not at all be worried about the words that go with it (hijack, along with the words you referenced already). [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Miller[/name_m] sounds so handsome and smart, and I find it less trendy than [name_u]Mason[/name_u] (which is much more popular than [name_m]Jack[/name_m], anyway!). I find [name_f]Carly[/name_f] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] way too similar (as all the letters in [name_m]Clay[/name_m] are already in [name_f]Carly[/name_f]!). I don’t think you really need to continue the trend of two-syllable, ending in “Y”, nickname sort of names. What does that leave you with? [name_u]Sammy[/name_u], [name_m]Benny[/name_m], Louey, etc.? There are similarities between [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Carly[/name_f], yes, but it’s not enough of a trend yet that you HAVE to continue it. I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Miller[/name_m] would be smashing.
Then again, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a huge favorite of mine (and a family name to boot!), so I would have no qualms using it.
I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] has it all. It’s strong, handsome, spunky and versatile. [name_m]Clay[/name_m] just does nothing for me. It has no energy like [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] flows better with your surname as well.
I prefer [name_m]Clayton[/name_m], clay as the nn. [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] with clay and or c.j. as a nn. Jc is also a cool nn if you use [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Clayton[/name_m]-to make it easier, maybe use [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] -easier to pronounce. I love [name_m]Clayton[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
