Jack or Glenn for my main character?

The main character of my story is a 36 year old emergency room physician. I’ve been calling him [name_u]Glenn[/name_u] while writing, but I can’t help but wonder if I made the right naming decision. I just feel like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] fits him well too. He is a “junior,” so his father shares a name with him. The dad could be [name_m]John[/name_m], and my MC could be [name_m]Jack[/name_m], so that offers up a bit of distinction. Since I’ve been calling my MC [name_u]Glenn[/name_u], I’ve been addressing [name_u]Glenn[/name_u] as G2 through narration and character dialogue and interaction. So he still goes by [name_u]Glenn[/name_u], but people have a habit of calling him G2.

[name_m]Jack[/name_m]/[name_u]Glenn[/name_u] has a younger brother named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (33). His wife’s name is [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] (38), and they have two sons together [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] (7) and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] (4 months).

Options are:
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_m]Jr[/name_m]. “[name_m]Jack[/name_m]”
[name_u]Glenn[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_m]Jr[/name_m].

Which name do you prefer for my main character? Any input or advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I voted [name_u]Glenn[/name_u] in the last thread, but mostly because [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] reminds me of Stargate [name_f]Atlantis[/name_f] too much. I could see both names work.

[name_u]Glenn[/name_u] feels more memorable to me, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a popular name at the moment so there are a lot of them on TV/books/movies
Plus it’s a name that fits someone his age. Not that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] doesn’t, but [name_u]Glenn[/name_u] feels especially fitting, at least to me.

[name_u]Glenn[/name_u] feels really old to me, like someone who is at least 50. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is more ageless and fits better with the other names in the family.
