Jack S?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I really like [name_u]Jack[/name_u] for our second boy due in [name_u]January[/name_u].

The problem is, our last name starts with S. So if he is one of multiple Jacks in his class, he could end up going by [name_u]Jack[/name_u] S. Is this too much like jack*ss? Trying not to overthink it, but I don’t want him to be bullied for this. Don’t really like [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], just [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. Brother is N0lan.

I really don’t think a name as classic as [name_u]Jack[/name_u] is going to get bullied or teased just because his last name starts with S. I think you’re overthinking it

I don’t think it will be a problem! I do hear jack!ss with Jack S but I never would have thought of it if you didn’t point it out, and I don’t think he would get bullied for that. I feel like the whole ‘first name last initial’ thing is more common in elementary school, when kids probably wouldn’t even know the word jack!ss.

I love N0lan and Jack as brothers!

I don’t hear Jacka$$ but I do hear [name_m]Jax[/name_m] which I don’t think is a problem at all. He may be one of a few Jack’s in his class. You could also use [name_m]Johnathan[/name_m] ( [name_u]Jack[/name_u] ) but I think just [name_u]Jack[/name_u] is handsome !

That doesn’t look our sound like jacka*s whatsoever. You’re fine!

I have a relative with this name/initial and it’s not an issue

not an issue at all. even so, a teacher would think of that word before a child and would probably use the surname in full if they saw a problem.

I don’t think it’s a problem - I went to school with a [name_u]Jack[/name_u] S (who had to use that as there were multiple Jacks) and no one said anything

I had the exact same experience. Never thought about it at all until this minute, and it’s been over a decade and a half.

I myself am a Jack with the middle initial S who uses Jack S. Lastname all the time, and have also never experienced a single problem with it.

Not at all, Jack S. is perfectly fine. And the name goes nicely with your oldest

I would have never thought of that. So it is probably fine!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first crush was one of the several Jacks in our elementary school, who I thought of almost exclusively as “Jack S.” Absolutely never noticed what you’re talking about and I don’t think he was ever teased for it. I agree with PP that by middle school, when kids might be more likely to pick up on this, kids are kind of moving away from the First Name Last Initial stuff.

Thanks for bringing back some sweet childhood memories, though, lol.
