What are your thoughts on [name]Jack[/name] alone vs [name]Jackson[/name]? Our list is down to [name]Jackson[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Owen[/name], or [name]Oliver[/name]. We are in discussion most with [name]Jackson[/name]. I am arguing for [name]Jack[/name] alone but hubby feels that [name]Jack[/name] is short for [name]Jackson[/name] and his name should just be [name]Jackson[/name]. I offered [name]Jax[/name] and he says that’s a nickname, too. Any thoughts?
[name]Jack[/name] is not short for [name]Jackson[/name]! Remind him it’s a mediaeval form of [name]John[/name] and that it’s probably earned its status as a name in its own right after several hundred years of use, rather than the last 20-odd years in which [name]Jackson[/name] has become trendy. I think this stems from the fact I dislike surnames as first names but [name]IMO[/name], [name]Jack[/name] is much stronger and more classic and handsome than [name]Jackson[/name], which is clunky and reminds me of MJ. I also think [name]Jack[/name] fits better with your daughter’s name than [name]Jackson[/name]. I vote for [name]Jack[/name]!
I think [name]Jack[/name] alone has definitely become a name on it’s own, and not just a nickname. [name]Just[/name] [name]Jack[/name] is on my list simply because I don’t like the option [name]Jackson[/name]. If you like both [name]Jack[/name] AND [name]Jackson[/name], then I think you should go with [name]Jackson[/name]. That way you both get what you want in some way.
For what it’s worth, both [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Jack[/name]/[name]Ava[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] sound wonderful. Good luck!
[name]Jackson[/name] seems trendier to me because it makes me think of all the [name]Jaxon[/name]'s out there. I think [name]Jax[/name] is cute, but it’s my best friend’s dog’s name, so…
I prefer [name]Jack[/name]. Also love [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]!
[name]Jack[/name] is spunky and manly. [name]Jackson[/name]/[name]Jaxon[/name] is trendy. The name [name]Jack[/name] can stand on its own. I think [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] would make an awesome sibling duo!
I love [name]Jack[/name]! No matter how often I hear it. If anything, it is short for [name]John[/name] not [name]Jackson[/name]. [name]Jackson[/name] also seems trendy and already a bit dated.
[name]Jackson[/name] is way too overdone. It’s easily the most popular name where I live, above even the trendiest girl names. [name]Jack[/name] is far better, but [name]Oliver[/name] is best of all!
This is what I was thinking. Also, I agree with whoever said that [name]Jackson[/name] seems trendier because of [name]Jaxon[/name]. And please, do not use [name]Jax[/name]!
This. [name]Jack[/name] is so great. [name]Jackson[/name] pales in comparison to me, but it’s by no means a bad name. If your husband loves [name]Jackson[/name] then perhaps you should go with that and you can just always call him [name]Jack[/name] anyway… Good luck! =]
This. And if I knew how to quote what @Amydomsmom quoted, then I’d quote that, too. I adore [name]Jack[/name], I think it’s wonderful. [name]Jackson[/name] doesn’t even hold a candle to just [name]Jack[/name], imo, but it’s still a nice name (as long as it’s not spelled [name]Jaxon[/name] or [name]Jaxson[/name]!). I really like [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] with [name]Ava[/name], as well.
