Jackson first name, Johnson last name?

Hello.

We are expecting a boy later this year and are playing the name game. Our last name is [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. We really like the name [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], but are debating how it sounds with our last name. We would probably stick with the full name and not go with [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Appreciate any thoughts.

Full name would potentially be [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] has a family connection and will likely be the middle name, so would also appreciate thoughts on other first names that would work as well.

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

Honestly and unfortunately I think [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] is a bit too much because they are so similar.

If you went for [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] you would also have the connection to the musician, and he is so well known that it would just be a constant reference point for people I think.

I agree with the previous poster, it is a bit too much, I would also just still to [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Maybe you could switch [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] around? [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] is lovely

I think it’s fine, don’t overthink it. If you really like the name then just go for it!
I also like the ideas of using [name_m]Jack[/name_m]/[name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] doesn’t work. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is better, but as pp said, everyone will just think of the musician.

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Madoc[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
Joash [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]

No. It verges on being ridiculous.

Thanks for the thoughts so far.

Another idea for a first name is [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] (nickname “[name_m]Ford[/name_m]”). Any thoughts on [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]?

It was just a question. No need to be rude.

Unfortunately I don’t think it works that well. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] works a little better. I don’t know the musician so I can’t really weigh in on how obvious the reference is except to say, not everyone will know it, clearly

I really do not think it works, unfortunately. Maybe if he went by JJ?

I would suggest [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] or [name_m]Jacko[/name_m] as alternatives, because with [name_m]Jack[/name_m] I do immediately think of the musician [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m].

Thanks everyone for the replies. This confirms our concern - we like the name [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] by itself, but it just does not flow well with the last name.

Oh my I am definitely not a fan of [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. While a bit different it reminds me of a boy I knew in school named [name_u]Randy[/name_u] [name_m]Randall[/name_m].

I would definitely consider finding a first name that dies not end with -son.

Since everyone has given feedback on [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], I thought I would respond to this post! I think [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] sounds lovely together. I like the idea of calling him [name_m]Ford[/name_m] as a nn, particularly because I am not a fan of [name_m]Brad[/name_m] at all and because I think it is more uncommon.

While [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] isn’t my taste, I think that [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] flows very well and is a handsome name.
Other suggestions:
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]

I missed the bit about [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] and agree that [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] is a fantastic name!

[name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] is much better, love nickname of [name_m]Ford[/name_m] too.

Sorry, gonna have to vote no here. [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] sounds made up and of course [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] will probably be associated with the singer.

I’d also say no to [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]… but think [name_m]Bradford[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] works OK.

[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m], wow, that’s a lot of j’s and a lot of sons.

It’s fine, but I would choose another name with a different initial. Some alliteration works better than others.

Just saw the part about Bradford Johnson. That sounds much better. I also like Rutherford, Rexford, Bradbury, Brandon, Brennan, and just plain Ford, which is so strong.
