We are not sure on the gender yet, but having a baby in [name_f]May[/name_f] who will join big brother [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
I think we are already sorted for a girls name but I’m struggling to find a boy’s name that I like but goes with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] too.
So far we have [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] or [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
Jackson is a name I have always loved on it’s own but I don’t really want two boys with the same ending sound ‘n’ in their name. I also don’t want it to be shortened to [name_m]Jack[/name_m] because that’s my father in law’s name. But then I’m not sure [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] really goes with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] especially because it’s shorter and probably more modern.
Hugo is actually a pretty historical name and was very popular in the middle ages! It seems older to me than [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], eventhough it is trending at the moment.
I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is the most obvious nickname for [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], but if you didn’t want him to go by that, it’s easy enough to avoid.
I see what you mean about both having the ‘n’ ending, but since the stress in [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is on the ending whereas the stress on [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is in the beginning, I don’t think it’s too noticeable.
I personally prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] of the two. [name_f]Imo[/name_f], [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] makes a more romantic, historical combo whereas [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is more modern and boyish. So both could work really well imo!
I prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], I really like the solid feel it has. I actually find [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] more modern than [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
[name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is nice but it’s very trendy and modern, there are a lot of Jacksons and Jaxons outside (this name has many ways to spell, in fact when you combine all spellings it’s the most popular name). It will become dated quickly, while Hugo is a classic. I’m not a fan of -son names either but that’s just me. I don’t think two -n’s are a problem, though. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] can be avoidable.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] gets my vote.
I wouldn’t do [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] if you’re concerned about nickname [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Yes, you could avoid [name_m]Jack[/name_m] being used in the family, but it’s likely his school friends would call him that. I also agree with the other posters, [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] to me feels a lot trendier and more modern than [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].

I think [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] go really well together! Agree with pps that [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] has a long history of use and feels more timeless compared to [name_u]Jackson[/name_u].
Definitely [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! It’s a fantastic name and goes well with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. Plus, as others have said, [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] seems much more modern than [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] does…
Hugo is my favourite but I do like both names. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] feels strong and handsome with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] as both names have a fresh European flair and are very handsome.
I actually think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] goes better with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. It’s a bit more unique, without being “too out there”. Whereas [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is very common, and im positive he will be called [name_m]Jack[/name_m] sometime in his life one way or another. So if that bothers you, I’d avoid it.

Lachlan and Hugo is my vote.
Jack is a common NN/shortening for Jackson, and if you don’t like it, it’ll just annoy you. It’s also a bit much/ a bit rhymy with Lachlan.
Honestly, neither are quite my style. But I slightly prefer [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] w/Lachlan. And I slightly prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] in general. I do love [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but if you don’t want him sharing a name w/Grandpa, maybe [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] isn’t a great idea. Unless you call him [name_m]Jax[/name_m]?
A few other ideas that go well w/Lachlan-(I’ll try not to do too many ‘n’ ending names…maybe a few!)
I also think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] goes better with [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. At least where I live [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is very popular while [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are rarer.
Hugo x 1000. [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is sooo popular and with the other spelling [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] around along with just [name_m]Jack[/name_m] it’s probably one of the most common names on the playground… Something to think about! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is one of my #1s despite this but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is another fave so I feel your dilemma!
