My husband and I are expecting our second child, a brother for sibling [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]. My husband is a [name_u]James[/name_u] (who goes by [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m]) and his father ([name_m]Jim[/name_m]) and both grandfathers are also named [name_u]James[/name_u]. My husband has his heart set on a namesake of [name_u]James[/name_u], or one associated with [name_u]James[/name_u]. However, he would not want to call the child [name_u]James[/name_u] and I would not like to call him [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] or [name_m]Jim[/name_m]. So, after a lot of discussion, we have arrived at two choices: [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] (and calling him [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] or J.R.). [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is an ode to the “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” middle name in my family as it means “where roses grow” (my middle name is [name_f]Rose[/name_f], after my grandmother, all of my female cousins share the same middle name and my daughter’s middle name is a combination of mine and my mother’s middle names). We truly like both options equally. Thoughts?
I like [name_u]James[/name_u] better than [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], but I think [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] sounds better with [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]–which I absolutely love. I love the idea of calling him [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m].
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is so handsome!
I like both - prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] generally but really like [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] in this context. Would also depend on last name - eg wouldn’t do [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] if you’ve a one syllable last name. I’d spare a though to whether the [name_m]Cecil[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] connection could be an issue - might not be but at worth considering. I personally like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or Roses for a boy mn, but might not appeal - perhaps another name for [name_f]Rose[/name_f] if [name_m]Cecil[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] association is at all relevant and off putting.
I like the flow of [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] better than [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m], and love that then both names are directly related to honour names but deviate slightly.
I love the flow of [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]! Both are nice though, and I love the connection with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I think I’d go with whichever goes better with your last name!
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] fits better stylistically with big sister [name_u]Sloane[/name_u].
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is a beautiful combo with a better flow and more substance than [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] [name_f]IMO[/name_f]!
I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] over [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], but given the number of Jameses in your family I think [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is the better option. Mix it up a bit.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is beyond handsome!
I love [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]! With either name you also have the option of [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] as a nn.
Initially I thought [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] flowed better, but having considered more, I think I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] and using [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]. [name_u]James[/name_u] to me is just that bit more refined perhaps than [name_u]Jameson[/name_u]

I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] to [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], but [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] doesn’t flow the best. However, I doubt you’ll be saying his full name super frequently.
There’s a little part of me that always thinks whiskey when I hear [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], but I like it anyway, and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] flows better with [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]. I love how the names (of both your son and daughter) are honor names, yet still unique.
I feel like [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] flows better and I also like that he would have his “own” name while also still following in tradition. I love both [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] a lot though!
