Looking for thoughts on the name [name]Jameson[/name] [name]Stanley[/name]. Last name is simple and short.
[name]Stanley[/name] is my dad’s name, and [name]Jameson[/name] is a play off [name]James[/name], which is my husband’s dad’s name, as well as my husband’s middle name and his deceased older brother’s first name.
I know it’s kind of a mouthful, but I’m hoping the short last name will balance it out.
I’m a bit nervous about [name]Jameson[/name] because:
a) It’s getting trendy
b) I’ve heard it’s occasionally used for girls and we want a strong, masculine name
c) My grandmother will have a heart attack re: the whisky association (we don’t mind the association)
d) Nicknames are tricky. I’m not wild about [name]Jim[/name] or [name]Jimmy[/name], but I know I can’t control it. [name]James[/name] or [name]Jamie[/name] are fine.
My husband loves it. I like it but I’m looking for reassurance.
I think [name]Stanley[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] or [name]Stanley[/name] [name]James[/name] or [name]James[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] would be even better. I’m personally not such a big fan of [name]Jameson[/name] as a first name (though I do very much appreciate that you have a family connection with the name and appreciate that you are gonna use it, though I much prefer [name]James[/name]).
If you don’t mind [name]James[/name] or [name]Jamie[/name] as nicknames, I don’t think you have to worry there, those are definitely the most straightforward nicknames for [name]Jameson[/name].
And I wouldn’t worry about the it-being-a-mouthful thing. I don’t think it’s a mouthfull at all.
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] is a very nice name. I love the meaning behind it. [name]Jameson[/name] isn’t feminine ([name]James[/name] + son), so I wouldn’t worry about that.
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] is a really good combo! Here in Australia there is no worries about the whisky influence it doesn’t exist. I love all the family connections and I think that [name]Jameson[/name] is a handsome name. You could nn him [name]Jem[/name] if you like it.
I really appreciate your feedback. I’m interested in your (honest) reservations around the name [name]Jameson[/name]. I can’t quite picture a little baby named [name]Stanley[/name] so I’m struggling with the idea of that as a first name, but I’d love your thoughts.
I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Jameson[/name], as you will see in my signature it’s the middle name we’ve chosen for our son due in [name]October[/name]. It was a strong contender for first name as well, only reason it didn’t win was because of the nn issue and i couldn’t find one I liked, so mn it was.
We’ve got a family connection to the name [name]James[/name] as well (hubby’s name, my dad’s mn & grandad’s name), so i love the meaning.
[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] is very handsome - great choice!
I have a close friend who just named her third son [name]Jameson[/name]. It’s an awesome choice; different but not weird! I think it’s strong and masculine. [name]Love[/name].
Cannebella and Redrose, I can totally see what you mean. The only problem with [name]James[/name] is that (despite it being my F-I-L’s name) it doesn’t flow very well with the last name. (You’ll have to trust me; trying to stay anonymous here. ) That extra syllable really makes it work.
Still, your feedback does make sense. I’m hoping that since the two “[name]Jameson[/name] [name]Stanley[/name]” won’t be written together very often without the last name, that it will work out.
