Well i KNOW its a unisex name so when i hear it i think it could be either a boy or a girl. However i do prefer [name]Jamie[/name] as a girl, it seems more feminine to me then masculine. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
[name]Jamie[/name] can be either gender. Personly I love the name for a girl
I know someone named [name]James[/name] who goes by [name]Jamie[/name]. I also know a woman named [name]Jamie[/name]. I have to say whenever I hear the name I’d automatically assume it was a boy. Idk why I just associate it with a boys name and even though I do know a woman named [name]Jamie[/name]. I have a hard time picturing the name on a girl.
I grew up knowing a girl [name]Jamie[/name], but now I associate it more with boys and absolutely love it as a nn for [name]James[/name]. Which is weird because I dislike most other -ie/-y nicknames for boys. But I agree with pp that when I see the name, I know it’s unisex so it could be either gender.
i’ve known both men and women named [name]Jamie[/name]. i think it is very unisex, however that being said, i think over time it has and will become more female-ish.
good luck!
i prefer i for a boy, but its cute on a girl i guess. but i think of a boy.
I know 2 [name]Jamie[/name], one is a girl & the other is a boy. But the guy’s real name is [name]Jameson[/name]. So I say [name]Jamie[/name] is more a girl’s name, but also a guy’s nickname. If you like the name [name]Jamie[/name] for a boy, I would use it as a nickname, not his real name.
I’ve met two, both female. As an aside, when I mentioned one of them to my father, his first reaction was “I hope that’s a girl.”
I think [name]Jamie[/name] is a darling nickname for a little boy named [name]James[/name].
However, I find [name]Jamie[/name] for a girl just trashy and stupid.
im from a younger generation so when i hear jamie i think it’s a girl. i have seen some different spellings like jaime or jaimee. i do like jamie for a boy as a nickname james. i do think it takes the right boy to pull it off though.
Boy!
[name]Read[/name] [name]Diana[/name] Gabaldon’s Outlander series and [name]Jamie[/name] will always and forever be an endearingly, totally masculine name for you. I much prefer it as a male name.
I agree with you 100%! I would definitely use it as a nn for [name]James[/name] but I was just curious what people thought of it gender wise.
I have always seen [name]Jamie[/name] as a girl and [name]Jaime[/name] for a boy…
I picture a rugged young Scotsman called [name]James[/name] “[name]Jamie[/name]”
I generally think of [name]Jamie[/name] as a female name because I went to high school with several. And [name]Jamie[/name] for a guy should be a nickname. I had friends that dated in high school and they were both named [name]Jamie[/name]! We called them “The [name]Jamies[/name]” or “[name]Jamie[/name] squared”
I once knew a guy named [name]Jayme[/name]… not a great spelling in my opinion. He said people always assumed that he was a girl.
I fall in the boat with the Outlander fans Definitely a boy after that!
At first thought, I think of a boy. But I agree with the PP that said it should be a nickname for [name]James[/name] or [name]Jameson[/name]. I can see it as a full name on a girl though.
I have a female dog named [name]Jamie[/name] (but she was originally supposed to be a male) so I guess that’s why I think of it as more masculine.
I’ve heard it on both, but I much prefer “feminine” unisex names (like [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Riley[/name], ect.) on boys.
