I was perfectly shocked when my husband, who likes names like [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name], told me he likes [name]January[/name].
Lets be honest, I will probably still stick with [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Emerald[/name]. But in daydreaming about [name]January[/name] for a little girl, I realized I could come up with hardly any middles that work. Actress [name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name]'s middle name is [name]Kristen[/name], which is also my name. Is it a sign?
Anyway, what middle names work with [name]January[/name]? And what do you think of the name?
I love [name]January[/name]! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to use it myself, but it has such a sweet and melodic flow to it!
I think a shorter middle name that starts with a consonant would work best. What do you think of:
[name]January[/name] [name]Clare[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Tess[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Lane[/name]
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]January[/name] and think it’s perfectly usable. [name]January[/name] is more my style than [name]Elizabeth[/name] (I’m not bad-mouthing [name]Elizabeth[/name]. The classics just can’t be beat.) and I’d use it in a heartbeat! In my opinion, anything could go in the middle. Some a little more crazy or something short, sweet, and classic.
I find month names weird. I know [name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name] pulls it off, but she looks like [name]January[/name], so pure and blonde. And she’s stunning. I think some of these names you need to be incredibly good looking to pull off. (But you are so it’s ok!)
I think you need a less wordy name though, I looked at some of your other threads and found…
Dude, I was just thinking about that! I think you’re possibly right. You may have to be a real looker to pull off a name like January. And thank you for the sweet compliment but I don’t see my husband and I creating a January Jones looking creature. Although it is quite possible she could be a blonde or ginger as we both have light hair, and red runs in his family. (He has red hairs in his beard. I call it the rust belt. Haha! They look exactly like tiny copper filaments growing out of his face.) We are also fair. I in particular am crazy pale. So it could work. Maybe.
I actually know of a real life January. A friend of a friend whose pictures I have seen on FB. She goes by Jan mostly. She is a tall, striking, pale, willowy blonde. It must be a thing. Hey maybe I can ensure my baby’s tall willowy blondeness by naming her January!
In any case, as usual I like your suggestions. Maeve is particularly good. Right now tho I think I like January Alice best. Not sure why. Just works for me.
I’ve always loved it but I’m a sucker for month/day of the week names. I love that it could have the nickname “[name]Janie[/name]” which I find absolutely adorable. I’ve heard people say that it would be weird for a girl not born in [name]January[/name] but I think the only way it would be weird is if the parents actually hated the month of [name]January[/name], haha.
[name]EDIT[/name]: Oh I forgot to suggest middles! I have [name]January[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] on my list. I think the popular (but still beautiful) [name]Olivia[/name] helps balance out the uniqueness of [name]January[/name].
Isn’t [name]January[/name] the name of the little girl who has very bad schizophrenia at a very young age? (I think they did a TLC show about her? Extremely sad situation.) That’s who comes to mind when I think of [name]January[/name], unfortunately, it’s just a sad association for me. (Though I doubt most people will know who that is).
Objectively, I can see the appeal, though. [name]January[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] really works, [name]IMO[/name] (stealing from your other combo), it kind of grounds [name]January[/name] and makes it approachable.
[name]January[/name] is sweet - when I was little I had a stuffed animal that I called [name]January[/name]. Like some mentioned above, I’d go with a short, sweet, and to the point middle name, like
[name]January[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (very striking, I think, since it’s an anomaly)
[name]January[/name] [name]Beth[/name]
(Personally, my b-day is in February, and I think that would make a fantastic month-name too!)
I love the combo [name]January[/name] [name]Elise[/name]. It is similar to your choice of [name]January[/name] [name]Alice[/name], but I think the [name]El[/name] sound compliments the a’s in [name]January[/name] more than the [name]Al[/name] of [name]Alice[/name]. [name]January[/name] [name]Alice[/name] is nice too.
Have you thought about [name]Januaria[/name] instead? I think that might be even prettier, and less month and [name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name]-y.
