At first glance I had no idea how you could get the name [name_m]Japheth[/name_m], however I’m beginning to grow fond of it. I like [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] Rede and [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] Rhone out of your combinations. I think that a one syllable middle name would work lovely with [name_m]Japheth[/name_m]!
[name_m]Japheth[/name_m] Rede and [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are my favorites!! I really love [name_m]Japheth[/name_m]/Yafes - as [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s youngest son too - and I am glad I am not the only one that likes the name.
I must admit that I had no idea how to pronounce [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] when I read it. That could be explained by the fact that there is no religious fiber in my body and I have never heard it pronounced before. Other people may know how to pronounce it though.
I like the image of the word though, and I think it would be a good name for a little boy. As a middle name I like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] the most, mainly because it is a more familiar name, and I like that contrasting with [name_m]Japheth[/name_m].
@winnieg: [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] is one of those names that grow on you. I’m thinking one syllable names might work best with it.
@elifsu: Oh, I’d never heard Yafes. It’s really nice. I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes the name!
@tday: I don’t really think “religous” when I see [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] but I can see how someone might. The image of the name is what got me, I like how it looks.
Holy smokes, I love [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] so much. [name_m]Japhy[/name_m] is the only nickname I’ve ever heard for it, which I love even more. [name_m]Alas[/name_m], I couldn’t even sell it as a dog’s name to my partner, who thinks it sounds like “Chafe-eth.” Spoilsport!
Whichever middle name you choose, [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] is phenomenal!
That name really is unusual. I first thought you must’ve gotten it from Many Waters by [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] L’Engle.
That’s beside the point, I think [name_m]Arto[/name_m] woudl work (instead of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]).
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps,
[name_u]Abi[/name_u] xx
I always thought the pronunciation was [name_u]Jay[/name_u] - pheth but in recent years I have heard it pronounced Jap - pheth
There are online sites that you can hear pronunciations of names . I haven’t done for this name but I have for other names.
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is used more now so [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] might get more consideration as well.
@seedsandstones: Thank you! I like [name_m]Japhy[/name_m] and was considering it on it’s own but decided I prefer [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] a bit more (for now). Also, I think people would have problems with [name_m]Japhy[/name_m]'s pronounciation and whether it was [name_u]JAY[/name_u]-fee or JAH-fee.
@abigail2503: I’ve not read Many Waters but I’ll be checking it out now. I’m not a fan of [name_m]Arto[/name_m]'s sound, but it looks really cool. Thanks!
@briarblossom: I’ve never heard the JAP-eth pronunciation being used for [name_m]Japheth[/name_m] but I have for [name_m]Japeth[/name_m]. I’ll be keeping that in mind!
