I was wondering, what you would think of the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] on a little girl? is it too masculine? Too weird? personally i love it on a girl, but i’d really like your opinion.
To me, [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is one of those names that just screams “boy,” probably because I’ve only ever known guys with that name. It could work, but personally, I’m not a fan.
I’m a fan of names like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] for little girls so of course I like the idea of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for a girl too. It is decidedly masculine, but [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a gem stone and paired with the right middle name I think it could be a beautiful girls name!
I’m not a fan of boys’ names on girls, but I think girls have just as much right to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] as [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], so why not? I rather like the idea of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] on a girl, honestly, even though I love [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] for boys. Then again, I have troubles envisioning [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] on a little boy, and never liked it as much as [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m], so maybe it’s for that reason I’m more open to it on a girl. I am hesitant to promote it, though, as it’s so popular for boys right now, and not just in one country, but pretty much the entire English world.
I can see why you think it could work but I wouldn’t like it on a girl.
It’s one of my top girl names. I don’t feel it’s feminine or masculine, it’s just a thing/word. Yes, it has a long history as a name for males but to me that doesn’t negate that it’s a rock and therefore genderless.
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a boy’s name and it shouldn’t be used for girls. I would think it very weird for a girl to be named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
I’m not a fan, sorry. I’m not against unisex names on girls, but I don’t like this one on a girl.
To me [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] isn’t even that masculine on a boy (I dont know if its the Twilight thing…I just think of a sparkly vampire), however I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is all boy.
I responded to a thread the other day about what name would you choose if you could choose ANY name and my response was [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for a girl. But it doesn’t work in the real world. MAYBE in the middle with a very feminine first, but sigh, my little girl named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is just a pipe dream.
ITS A BOYS NAME!!!
I cannot stand the trend of taking great masculine boy’s names with strong masculine roots and using them for girls. Yes of course there are legitimate unisex names which I do actually like and sometimes using a boy’s name for a girl is quirky and works. But using a name like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] or [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is awful. Can a boy’s name just remain a boy’s name?!
No. I don’t like it. If you’re so set on this, use it as a middle name. [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for example. I just really don’t like this particular name on a girl. It screams boy to me. It isn’t even that I don’t like boy names on girls–usually I just shrug it off. But, seriously, of all the gorgeous girl names out there, you want to saddle her with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]?
I don’t like it in either case…it sounds more Slytherin than human.
