Jasper or Sawyer?

I like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] due to adorable nicknames, and the hubs seems to prefer it. My family really all dislikes it though - which does bother me some. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] seems to be more popular. I want something unique but not per say uncommon so that people can’t spell or pronounce it. We are considering middle names that start with E or [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] (family name). This could make [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] 's monogram SHE though. Can you tell I’m over thinking it?! I think [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] sounds much better with our last name though. It’s Holstine (pronounced whole, then stien like Frankenstein). Help please!:purple_heart:

Personally, I prefer [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u].
I’d hold off from telling your family too much about the name. They may be judgemental now, but once your bub is here they’ll get attatched to him and won’t be a problem.

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] isn’t too common, I’ve never met one and I don’t think people would struggle with pronounciation.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry about the SHE. I do agree, [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] sounds better with your LN but [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] doesn’t not work.

best of luck finding a name!

My vote goes to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. Both names are nice but [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is more uncommon and so handsome.

This is your baby, so you should go with the name you and husband like best. Everyone else will get attached to the baby regardless of what they think of the name. It will grow on them. My vote goes to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

I much prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], and it’s your baby, you should name him what you and your husband prefer.

I prefer [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. I’m confused on how the initials “SHE” is a bad thing and how, if the last name starts with “H”, it would spell “SHE.”

I much prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and I like how it sounds with your surname

Can’t go wrong with either. I pick [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. Would make a great sibset!!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] the monogram would be SHE, not the initials. Thanks for the input!

Another vote for [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], have never met one but I know 2 Jaspers under 6.

I’m honestly so surprised, I don’t think I’ve met anyone who disliked [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is a fine name. But I just want to say, as someone who got criticism from family my entire pregnancy over the names I had picked out, once the baby was here and named all their complaints went away. Once they see a real tangible person on front of them it becomes a lot harder to insult their name.

I have to say I really dislike the name [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and the way it sounds like soya.

I adore the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is a fantastic name! I also think it sounds just as good — if not better — than [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] with your surname. It’s more unusual than [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], especially when you factor in all the female Sawyers born each year too. Go with what you love!

I personally prefer [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], but [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is nice too! I’d say go with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] if you love it more, the family will adjust to it

That being said, I do have to say [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] would be a stunning combination!

I love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], I love the quiet strength of the name, I love the timelessness, I love that you it’s short enough that nicknaming it isn’t necessary but there’s a tonne of nicknames anyway like [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Jas[/name_m], [name_u]Jazz[/name_u] or [name_u]Perry[/name_u]. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is okay, it just seems so trendy and it’s hard to nickname and hard (I find) to pronounce, I much prefer classic, smooth sounding [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

The thing is it’s your baby, you and husband’s, not the rest of your family so if you love a name, use it and they can get over it, I honestly find most people end up falling in love with the baby and then the name so I wouldn’t sweat outside disapproval.

I love both names, however personally I’d choose [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] always seems a little dated to me.

I much prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I would have thought it was less popular than [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], which has quite a trendy feel to it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t discuss names with your family, and people will get used to your choice when the baby is born.

I prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I struggle to picture the name [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] on a grown man, perhaps due to the [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] reference. I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] sounds better with your last name. If you name your son that, your family will come around.

I prefer [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] personally.

However, I agree that you shouldn’t concern yourself with the opinions of your family/friends. If you and your husband love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] then I say use it!
