I voted [name]Jasper[/name] but I can’t say why! It is simply my current favorite for a boy’s name. I love the ‘er’ ending, and like it more here than in the job description names. I’m still hung up on ‘j’ as a beginning sound?
[name]Casper[/name] is also adorable. I think that ghost has finally faded. If you love it, by all means go with it. I can’t find any rational reason for preferring one over the other.
I voted for [name]Jasper[/name]. But [name]Casper[/name] is also lovely.
I have the same problem - I love them both! [name]Casper[/name] has a slight edge for me though, as I’ve loved it longer and starts with a ‘C’, a very meaningful letter to me.
They do have quite different images for me though. [name]Casper[/name] is a sweet and full of wonder; [name]Jasper[/name] is a bit more energetic, but equally as sweet.
I voted for [name]Jasper[/name] simply because it has that down to earth, woodsy feel and I am drawn to names like that.
Interesting that you both brought this up. I’m typically drawn to down-to-earth and woodsy with my boys’ names, and I agree that [name]Jasper[/name] has that feel. [name]Casper[/name] adds a touch of magic to my list though, which is something I think my list needs.
Hmm… What kind of feel does [name]Cas[/name] have?
I prefer [name]Gaspar[/name] because I love the nn Pirate
But between the two I prefer [name]Jasper[/name] since I love nature names
ETA: I love [name]Cass[/name] as a stand alone or as a nn for [name]Casimir[/name] but I don’t like [name]Casper[/name]
I love, love, love [name]Casper[/name], but [name]Jasper[/name] is one of my least favorite names ever, and it’s hard to really explain why since they sound so similar. I’ll give it a try, though. When I hear [name]Jasper[/name], I think “villain in a bad western”; [name]Casper[/name] sounds softer, more European and cultured. I also love the story of the Three Wise Men from the Bible – thus [name]William[/name] [name]Balthazar[/name] being our top pick for a son – while my main associations with [name]Jasper[/name] are Twilight and a horrific hate crime that took place in a city named [name]Jasper[/name]. [name]Add[/name] to that the fact that I love “C” names, [name]Casper[/name] is a clear winner in my book.
I voted for [name]Jasper[/name], but I also like the name [name]Caspian[/name] (just not [name]Casper[/name]).
I love [name]Casper[/name] and while [name]Jasper[/name] is nice, I just don’t feel for it. [name]Casper[/name] sounds vintage and sweet, while [name]Jasper[/name] sounds more morden and almost trendy, thanks to Twilight.
[name]Casper[/name], by a mile! Although I vastly prefer the French spelling, [name]Caspar[/name].
Meh, I’ve just never been a huge [name]Jasper[/name] fan (I think it’s a lovely name, and I do like it–I just can’t really picture it on an actual little human). Plus, my best friend (who passed away [name]December[/name] 2011) had triplets about a year before she passed away, and if she’d had all boys, the last little boy would have been a little [name]Caspar[/name]. So it’s very sentimental to me, almost like honoring [name]Millie[/name] in a way. Plus, after seeing the [name]Caspar[/name] [name]Lee[/name] youtube videos, it feels very wearable to me, youthful, timeless, a bit mischievous, fun, classic. I honestly don’t think of [name]Casper[/name] the ghost at all–I think of my best friend, of the three wise men who visited [name]Jesus[/name], and a funny guy, haha. I think it’s a great name.
I like [name]Casper[/name], but the ghost connection does bother me so I think [name]Jasper[/name] is just more wearable.
I just like [name]Caspar[/name] better for some reason and I really like the nn Caz.
[name]Jasper[/name] is lovely. I just don’t like [name]Casper[/name] very much.
I can’t get past the ghost association so I choose [name]Jasper[/name], but [name]Caspar[/name] does have a nice sound.
I prefer [name]Casper[/name] over [name]Jasper[/name]. Actually, I like the [name]Caspar[/name] spelling a lot.
I’ve met one adorable baby boy named [name]Caspar[/name] and that’s all it took to find the charms of the name. I think it’s playful and imaginative-sounding for a young boy, but distinguished and handsome for a man. I like the nicknames [name]Cap[/name] or [name]Cass[/name].
I do like [name]Jasper[/name], but it seems more hip and trendy. I always pair it with a brother named [name]Miles[/name] in my mind. Also, occasionally it reminds me of the bumbling criminal from 101 Dalmations by that name,
I wasn’t expecting [name]Casper[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] to be so close in the poll! My next question was going to be [name]Casper[/name] vs [name]Caspar[/name]. I don’t know which spelling I like best…
My vote is obvious (from the signature). But I can’t explain why. I’ve just always loved it (and try to ignore the Twilight rreference as much as possible), and so does my SO.
Definitely [name]Caspar[/name], though I actually prefer it spelled with a K. Normally I hate (really hate) when people replace Cs with Ks, but I have loved [name]Caspar[/name] ever since I came across it in my family tree, and it was spelled with a K, so it looks a bit odd with a C to me since I never thought of it before seeing this name. [name]Kasimir[/name] is another name that’s sort of similar that I found in the same family tree.
I do like the name [name]Jasper[/name], and the nn [name]Jazz[/name] is undeniably cool, but Caz is also very very cool and [name]Caspar[/name] feels much fresher to me than [name]Jasper[/name].
[name]Casper[/name] sounds sweet and friendly, [name]Jasper[/name] sounds spunky and a little naughty.
