Jemima?

Would you use it in the US?

Hmm I adore the name [name]Jemima[/name] but I’m not sure if I would have the guts to use it. Maybe if my husband really liked it I would muster up the strength.

I love the name too but i think i’m too chicken to use it. i was thinking i could call her jemma and not tell most people her real name. but then, what’s the point of using jemima? i guess i’m just thinking she could use it in the future if it comes into vogue, but what if it doesn’t?

I would, but in my area the name doesn’t have much of a stereotype associated with it, and the syrup brand isn’t all that big so I guess I’m kinda lucky

I wouldn’t. I associate it too strongly with the pancake syrup.

Ditto on the syrup. Sorry. :frowning:

Though, [name]Jemma[/name] is cute and works well on its own.

it makes me want pancakes… sorry…

I love it, but my husband can’t get onboard with it. We’re American, but we live in the UK. It has no syrup associations over here (though there is a [name]Jemima[/name] Puddleduck character in [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name], so everyone immediately jumps to that), and I think it’s adorable. But if we move back to the US, I’d be afraid of people thinking it was weird. I’m sure kids today have no idea, but the older generations still associate it with pancakes.
