Jersey

What do you think of the name [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] for a boy?

I’m kind of into it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious how others would like it.

Thanks!!

I had never heard of [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] until the other day when a friend mentioned that she was considering the name for her baby girl due in [name_u]June[/name_u]. Tbh I don’t like it, but I do think it sounds more suited to a boy than a girl.

Reminds me of [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] or the [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] Shore show, neither of which are flattering associations, imo.

I know of a little boy called [name_u]Jersey[/name_u], but it’s not really my style.

I have completely negative associations with it…sweaty basketball jersey…[name_u]Jersey[/name_u] Shores…[name_u]Jersey[/name_u] cattle.

It is not my style (I’m not a fan of place names).

It reminds me of cows but I guess that’s because I leave near farms. There’s a really good song by mayday parade called jersey so I also think of that but I think it’s better suited for a girl.

[name_u]Jersey[/name_u]…[name_f]May[/name_f] as well go with Jacket or Socks. It’s an article of clothing and a great state, albeit some shady history.

I imagine [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] has quaint, English roots, and can come off as handsome, I get the appeal, but sports jerseys and [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] shore make it a negative for me.

I have never heard it and I am not sure I would go with it myself. But, its kind of spunky and I kind of like it.

I’m not a huge fan of it, but that’s because I live very close to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] so that’s always my first thought.
However, I follow a family on social media who have a little boy named [name_u]Jersey[/name_u], and he is quite adorable. He makes me like the name much more than I used to. Also, because of him, I definitely think the name can work! [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my personal style.

I just think of sports jerseys.

The phonetics are nice, but personally I can only think of sport jerseys.
However the youtube family McClure Twins Family named their son [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] last year.

This is one of those names that would work perfectly as a unisex moniker if it weren’t for all of the associations. I do think it has an appealing sound. What about:

[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]
[name_u]Jamey[/name_u]
[name_u]Jessy[/name_u]/[name_u]Jessie[/name_u]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m] ([name_f]Josy[/name_f])

I like it! I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] though, so I dont associate it with the place much.

I think of [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] (the island), [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] (the US state) and jerseys (clothing). It’s not my personal style but I think it would make an acceptable name.

Like most other posters, it gives me a bad [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] Shore vice. However, if I lived in an alternate universe where that didn’t exist, I wouldn’t totally be against it. Better than [name_f]Vegas[/name_f] or [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] as a name, at least.

Thanks for all the feedback!! I don’t mind the state (since I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f])or clothing association, I’m still really into it
