Jessamine pronunciation?

This seems like a silly question, but what is the proper pronunciation of [name]Jessamine[/name]? Is it jez-a-min or jess-a-min? Or maybe even jez-a-mine/jess-a-mine? Thanks!

I not sure what the proper pronunciation is but I would say it [name]Jess[/name]-a-min

I always say [name]Jess[/name]-a-min… and I [name]LOVE[/name] the name:-) also like [name]Jessamy[/name] – [name]Jess[/name]-a-mee

“[name]JESS[/name]-a-min” is the correct pronunciation. It’s very similar to [name]Jasmine[/name].

I say [name]Jess[/name]-ah-myn

I say “[name]Jess[/name]-ah-meen.”

I’d say [name]Jessamine[/name] as ‘jess-a-min’. I had a teacher in college who was a Jesamine and that was pronounced ‘jez-a-min’.

“[name]JESS[/name]-a-min” is the correct way to pronounce [name]Jessamine[/name].

The county next to mine is called [name]Jessamine[/name] County. We pronounce it jess-uh-min.

The only place I’ve heard this name is as a county somewhere down south, and I’ve only seen it in writing, so I have no idea how I’m supposed to pronounce it. That said, I would say [name]JESS[/name]-a-meen.

The English and Kentucky pronunciations place all of the stress on the [name]Jess[/name], with the -uh-min following quickly after. [name]JESS[/name]-uh-min. I’ve never heard -meen, though the original Arabic name [name]Yasmeen[/name] certainly pronounced it that way.

I switch between [name]Jess[/name]-ah-min and jess-ah-meen depending on what strikes my fancy at the time. If I were to consider actually using it, I would likely go with [name]Jess[/name]-ah-min because I doubt the world of non-name-nerds would pronounce [name]Jess[/name]-ah-meen without prompting.

I prefer [name]Jess[/name]-ah-min because that’s how I’ve heard the flower pronounced ([name]Carolina[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] is a gorgeous flower, btw) and “min” is softer to my ear than “meen” which reminds me of [name]Eileen[/name]/[name]Doreen[/name]/[name]Nadine[/name] etc. and drags it down or makes it twang.

And I like the [name]Jessie[/name]/[name]Minnie[/name] options for NNs.

Wow, thanks so much for all the responses! I’m glad that the general sentiment is to pronounce it [name]JESS[/name]-a-min. Such a pretty name! And thanks for the note about [name]Carolina[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] stripedsocks. I had never seen the flowers before, but I just looked them up and that makes me love this name even more!

I say it as jez-a-min
