While I love [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] has been standing out for me a lot lately too. I just did a google search to check that I’m saying it correctly (I say it as [name_u]Jess[/name_u]-ah-mee), I found a post on mumsnet.com about the name. First off, very, very few people liked it - and a few stated that an older English author by the name of [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] Heyer used the name [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] for a male character, and one said, word for word:
'[name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] is very much a boy’s name to me (another [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] Hayer fan!)
I wouldn’t use a well-established boys name on a girl. ’
Another poster said that it’s not a boy’s name, it was simply a nickname for boys at one point.
Does [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] seem like a boy’s name at all? I want to add it to my list, but not if this is correct and it’s a ‘well-established’ boy’s name.
