WDYT? What would you think if you met a baby named [name]Jethro[/name]? Is this name usable in your opinion? Why or why not? Thanks Berries
I can’t get over the [name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies reference - but I know that it’s a very old show, so maybe I’m alone on that.
I love the name. It is on our top 5 for boys. We would use the nn [name]Jet[/name]. My husband doesn’t know if he loves it as much as I do (which is why it is not the #1 or 2 name.) I understand the hillbilly image, but I think it is ready for revival. It reminds me of the style of [name]Atticus[/name]. A name that has taken off among hipsters. [name]Jethro[/name] hasn’t quite been discovered yet though!

- o I also have heard of people’s first thought of the character [name]Leroy[/name] [name]Jethro[/name] Gibbs from NCIS — that is a good association I think though

I grew up listening to a lot of [name]Jethro[/name] [name]Tull[/name], so that’s my association with the name! Awesome band, so no trouble in my opinion.
I immediately think of The Beverly Hillbillies.
Do you like Jericho or Jago? They have some of the same sounds as Jethro.
I don’t hate the name, but I always hear ‘Death row’ when I hear the name. But that’s just a personal opinion that puts me off. But if you like it then you should use it!
Very hillbilly but I guess hillbillies & hillbilly names are having a moment. [name]Emmett[/name] & [name]Ellie[/name] [name]May[/name] would have been laughable when I was in school but now could easily be on the pre school roster.
Also in [name]Brooklyn[/name] [name]Jethro[/name] is a big restaurant superstore like Costco but for business. So that would be the modern association for anyone in that industry in the ny area. But that’s no big deal. The toothless slack jawed yokel thing would bother me more!
[name]Jethro[/name] makes me think of the [name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies. I’m not crazy about it but I do like the nickname [name]Jet[/name].
While I have seen the [name]Beverly[/name] Hillbillies my first thought is NCIS. Not a name I would choose but it doesn’t have any truely negative associations…so, why not? I think almost all names are usable so long as you are confidant in using it.
I love the way [name]Jethro[/name] sounds with my last name (sounds like Garris) and it’s meaning and roots are so nice. I don’t know if I can really consider it in the first spot though because I live out in the country. It is quite dashing in the middle spot! Thanks for the feedback; more is always welcome.
