Jill or Rae

I’m leaning towards a simple but strong name. Her last name is also short (one syllable, 4 letters).

[name]Rae[/name] or [name]Jill[/name]?

[name]Rae[/name]! Is my favorite of the two names, but it’s hard to determine without knowing how the surname sound. Anyway, a problem could be that [name]Rae[/name] it shorter than [name]Jill[/name] and with such a short surname, too, it could be a problem. But only could, and I generally like short names as well, so it’s not a problem for me. [name]Just[/name] thought I’d mention it. [name]Rae[/name] is just lovely.

Seeing as you have a one syllable surname, then I think that if you choose a first name that has a longer but very cute nn would be best, so I choose [name]Jill[/name] with nn of [name]Jilly[/name].

[name]Rae[/name]!! It’s my girlfriends middle name ([name]Jessie[/name] [name]Rae[/name]) and she loves it. I would love to meet a little baby [name]Rae[/name], its so underused and has a sort of vintage charm that I just dont get from [name]Jill[/name].

[name]Rae[/name] looks dated to me, not vintage. Its spelling has always struck me as a little odd too (but I tend to choose [name]May[/name] over [name]Mae[/name]…). I prefer [name]Jill[/name], though I think [name]Jillian[/name] nn [name]Jill[/name] sounds stronger.

[name]Both[/name] are cute! I like [name]Jill[/name] better personally because I think it ages better  I know lots of Raes that have double FNs such as [name]Cassie[/name] [name]Rae[/name] and a friend of ours just named her baby [name]Olivia[/name]-[name]Rae[/name] [name]Brooklyn[/name]. So I think [name]Rae[/name] is a real winner as well, especially with a double FN if that appeals to you

[name]Jill[/name] Personally I’d go [name]Aurelia[/name] nn [name]Rae[/name] or [name]Jillian[/name] nn [name]Jill[/name] but if you just want the short version I choose [name]Jill[/name], [name]Rae[/name] feels masucline to me and a little trendy.

[name]Rae[/name]! It was my great grandmother’s name and it was the influence for my parents to choose my Hebrew name, [name]Razel[/name]. Its a great name - classic and timeless. [name]Jill[/name] seems incredibly dated to me to the 1970s/ 80s.

[name]Rae[/name]. [name]Jill[/name] seems so dated and nicknamey to me. I’d really love [name]Rachel[/name] nn [name]Rae[/name] though, which seems simple and strong to me and would probably go better with your last name.
