Right now [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] is at the top of my list for our baby girl. My son’s name is [name]Porter[/name] [name]Austin[/name], our last name is very similar to Hoffman. SO… do you see any major problems that I haven’t seen yet?
Does the -an ending of [name]Jillian[/name] sound akward with the -an end of our last name?
[name]Do[/name] you think she will automatically be called [name]Jill[/name]? I don’t dislike [name]Jill[/name], just not my favorite nickname, and sounds a little dated. Anyone have any experience with only being called [name]Jillian[/name]? I think [name]Jilli[/name] is cute.
[name]Do[/name] you think it is too similar or would get confused with [name]Lillian[/name] that is crazy popular right now?
Thanks!
[name]Jillian[/name] is cute! I’m not in love with [name]Brooke[/name] though
I think these are pretty:
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Amy[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Clara[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Cait[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
I love the name [name]Jillian[/name] (though I do like the [name]Gillian[/name] spelling best because it encourages the [name]Jill[/name] nickname less)! I also think it’s absolutely fine with Hoffmann, so if your name is very similar it won’t be a problem.
I don’t think there’s any chance of a [name]Jillian[/name] being mistaken for a [name]Lillian[/name].
I don’t love [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] as a combo. [name]Brooke[/name] always strikes me as a harsh-sounding name. I think I’d prefer [name]Jillian[/name] paired with something a bit softer sounding, for instance:
I love the name [name]Jillian[/name]! It’s very different in style from my other names ([name]Alice[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Juliet[/name] etc.) but I also have a very good friend named [name]Jillian[/name] so it has great connections for me. No one has shortened her name down to [name]Jill[/name]. People sometimes call her [name]Jilly[/name] and Jillybean but just as cute nicknames. She goes by [name]Jillian[/name] exclusively.
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] has an alright flow but I’m really not fond of [name]Brooke[/name].
Some other names:
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexis[/name]/[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Leila[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Maia[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Alicia[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Mary[/name]/[name]Marie[/name]
Good luck
I think if you don’t like [name]Jill[/name] I wouldn’t use [name]Jillian[/name] because it’s just what I would shorten that name to. I’m not a fan of [name]Jillian[/name] it just sounds and feels made up. I think [name]Jill[/name] and [name]Jilli[/name] are really cute. I don’t think [name]Jill[/name] is dated either. Maybe you like:
My name is [name]Jill[/name] and I love it, but I’d worry about it being dated. But if you are fine with that, go for it. I love being a [name]Jill[/name]. I think [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] sounds good together.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I choose [name]Brooke[/name] because of the meaning and I like nature type names (for a middle), but I think you all are right, the flow isn’t the best. I like [name]Claire[/name] for a mn too. My husband’s grandma is [name]Marie[/name], and that sounds nice but so over used as a mn. What other nature nemes would go well in the middle?
Also like the suggestion of [name]Gabrielle[/name]/a for a first name. I think that the nn [name]Jill[/name] is growing on me a litte, I can pictue a cute little [name]Jill[/name].
Thanks again!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Jillian[/name] and although I dislike like [name]Brooke[/name], I really like [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Brooke[/name]! (way better than [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Claire[/name].) It’s very nice. [name]Jillian[/name] Hoffman or the likes is fine.
I know a [name]Jillian[/name] and she NEVER goes by [name]Jill[/name] - always [name]Jillian[/name]. The only nickname she gets is [name]Jilli[/name], which she likes. I don’t think you’ll have any problems with that or confusion with [name]Lillian[/name] too much.
[name]Just[/name] wanted to add I have a niece named [name]Jillian[/name] and her nn is [name]Lily[/name] which you might like better than [name]Jill[/name].
I like [name]Jillian[/name].
And I really like the pp suggestion of [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Louise[/name], but I’m not a big fan of [name]Brooke[/name].
I don’t think there’s any reason to worry about her being called [name]Jill[/name] if she doesn’t want to be. I’m a [name]Rebekah[/name] that was never [name]Becky[/name] and my brother was [name]Michael[/name] until college when he started letting people call him [name]Mike[/name]. You will have to correct people occasionally, but it’s not a big deal.
i have a baby jillian. she does sometimes get called jill, which i’d rather not, but i usually just be sure to call her by her full name and most people catch on. the idea of lily as a nickname for jillian is super cute, i love lily. we’ve used jilly, jillybean and bean as nick names, not that we want her going to school being called bean! i like jillian brooke together a lot!
for me the name jillian isn’t quite the same style as other names that i like, but i do continue to love it more and more and we do get a lot of compliments on it. it just seems to be a fun and friendly, likeable name.
My name is [name]Gillian[/name] and my last name ends in a -[name]MAN[/name], its two syllables too, but it never comes across as a problem to me. I usually just get called by my full name but there are so many other nick names out there for [name]Jillian[/name]/[name]Gillian[/name]'s!
